I'm thinking of replacing the standard instrament panel with after market guages and wondered if anyone had done this before? I have never tried anything like this before so dont have a clue where to start. I have the general gauges oil pressure, water level and battry guage and so on but I know the speedometer is slightly more complicated so wondered if there is a straight replacement kit? Any help would be greatly appricated

i once read a magazine, where someone used a bicycle speedo on their car. attached the magnet to the driveshaft or cv joint. then fixed the sensor and wired up the display. you have to tell the unit how big the outside diameter of your wheel is. jobs a good'un.

Will that not cause wobble in the steering wheel due to the unbalance?

a small magnet about 5g of weight on the driveshaft - ie: not on the edge of the wheel ; wont make u huge difference.
