ive just found out my diaphram in my dump valve has split. ive replaced it wit one a m8 had lying about and now the car is boosting to a bar.

could this of been the cause of what has messed up my turbo? cheers

If you was loosing boost then yes it could be the reason.

What did you set the boost too initially when the turbo was working?

as i popped the turbo i got with the engine whats in there now.

i thought id try another turbo i had lying around which was a bit fubared aswell, which smoked on idle. and the one which is on there now didnt smoke on idle.

i think the actuator what was on the turbo which is on there now was initally set up for 14 psi.

whys that m8?

and on the turbo i got with the engine i wasnt sure what that was set to but i rekon it was standard. and i never saw over 0.5 bar on my gauge with that one aswell

its always been on there since ive got it. couldnt be bothered to take it off. and ive got a new piston type now. a m8 gave it to me and its brand new. plus when i get the new turbo ill prob want to run 1. as the boost will be going up, and arent they suppoused to prolong the life of the turbo?

thinking of it though. ;)

if it was split, and it was seeing 0.5 bar, think how hard the turbo must have been working to produce that with a leak... prob why she died lol

Yip it will.

You will have to give it a clean now and again as it fouls with oil residue . ;)
