I'm looking to re-spay my ph2 5 in the orginal pearl white, want to do a class out, kit off, doors off job. Gonna replace front bumper, bonnet and tailgate. Don't want the hastle or expence of stipping interior and removing the engine. But want a tip top job. Anyone payed to have this done resently or know much i should be paying for this. Or even better any sprayers want to quote me happy!

Just took my R5 for a quote, £2k-£2.3 for a desent job! They said they'd take the kit off and bound it back on tho, but dubious about this. They sprayed my bro's T4 and looks mint, matey showed my his mini (bmw) which he's just respayed green after taking out a bambi with it. And looks well tidy. Decisions decisions!

mines bonded on. rather bond it on than have holes that can rust.
Its still got the original bolt hols on the wing arches and rear quarter, i just hammerited around the holes to stop rust.

I had two new outer sills, both inner sills, 2 doors replaced, new jacking point, replacement fuel section welded in, few small metal repairs here and there, rear bumper mounts etc, plus full respray, doors off kit off and it weighed in at £2100:agree:

U get what u pay for in many respects, try researching local body shops, existing customers etc, I know of a few highly regarded firms but the quality is **** when u really start looking at there work. I'm a painter myself, and did mine about 3months ago, lock stock the lot, I'd say for £2500 along with the vat increase u would get a top quality job, so many firms charge silly labour. As I said before, do some research before u commit, that's my opinion anyway.hope that helps fella.:)

Yeh think i'm gonna have few more quotes, If i'm gonna get it done i want it done right. Wouldn't pay £1000 for a blow over, waste of money.

Just found out that an old school mates set up a bodyshop, so will pay him a vist soon.

Wrap?

Nah paint 5-6 layers primer, 3-4 perl
think 3 1/2 L should do it?

3 litres of metallic mica in grey does an impreza easily for example, but it's better to be safe than sorry, 5-6 coats of primer is a bit much personally, that unless your gona try and block out fine ripples in doors, quarters etc,

I have searched the boards for the correct paint code for pearl white and i'm getting conflicting info.

Is it 348 Base for Pearl White with 168 Pearl? or 317?

I got some 317 mixed up at halfords a little white ago and its nothing like the right colour, too much pearl and not enough white.
