I know its not a 5.. but thought it might interest some of you

I owned this caddy 1.6 Diesel in early 2007 after swapping it with a mate for my Mk1 Golf, then late in 2007 I swapped it for back for him to fit bathroom window in my olds house lol.. Since then the car has just sat in his back garden ratting

I have now bought it back for £200, spent £15 having the exhaust fixed, £14 refurbing the gear linkage and just put it through its MOT last friday, knowing very well it would fail lol

Considering it is 21 years old & its been sat for well over a year, it didn't fail to badly... It needs a bit of tinkering with the lighting side of things and a fair amount of welding doing but being German its just a case of patching over the holes... Oh and its blew a core plug, so that needs seeing to aswell

Few up dates

All the welding is done... for the bargain sum of £120, he even welded the patches in the bed... I still can't get the indicator lights working on the clocks and the horn is temperamental but got over christmas to figure them out

Im to skint to get it re-MOT'd, taxed and insured before christmas, so im aiming for early January to have it on the road.... Now ive scrapped my white 5. I have brought it home and it is in my back garden so I tryed on its future shoes as i was worried they might need spacers etc

And more backyard racing touches here... since its been over in BYR hands the beam has been flipped and sort all brakes and front coilovers, few welding patches and lecy work done... sat with no engine at mo but have a mk3 golf TDI sat there in garage of ebay at bargin price so looking into to this conversion over the basic 1.9t lump.... alot more work tho as now it will need ecu and flybi and key etc etc.... May be done for May have to see if time is on hands, hats of to dean for all the effert in to this...:agree:

Back in my ownership again:laugh:... thanks to dean for all the work he had done and the bargain buy back price

Dean fitted a TDi engine from a Mk3 Golf but couldn't get it running as its not a straight forward swap.. I removed this yesterday as im going to use the lump out of my Golf GTD

Im loving oldskool diesel turbo tuning... All the plus points of petrol turbo tuning but still return mega MPG... The GTD lump should be pushing on the door of 130bhp with abit more boost from the T2 and 2.5" downpipe.... Its good to have boost back in my life (even if its dirty lol)

Winston
13-07-2009, 14:59
Beardo is keeping it all very low key... I want to see pics :cartman:

The time has come to take my Golf GTD off the road, so me and my mate Nick removed the engine for my caddy... Im car-less now so we are going to have to get it done ASAP.. Im hoping to get it running over the weekend/early next week... so i and in for its MOT so I can take it to bugjam, Im just waiting on the remaining parts to come... Bug pack bush kit (every bush pretty much), gear linkage kit and beetle rear shocks

I hate working on diesels (esp in the rain).. everything is covered in an inch of oilly poope

Sorry for the poor pics... i left it a little late in the evening and was covered in said
poope lol
