I now remember why my car has been sitting for 4+ years (http://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=26650), the clutch cable had snapped! Tried to start it today and when I went to push the clutch there was nothing, and the bad memories came flooding back :(

Tried today to fit the one I bought way back then but having some problems. In the "Changing the clutch cable (http://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=4800)" guide it says to remove a "grommet" but I can't see any? Do you need to jack the car up to do this as I don't know how I would route the new cable back through or see where it comes through the bulkhead with only access from the top of the engine (see pic 7).

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Take the drivers side wheel off.
Take the little sh1t shield/rear most arch liner off.
Get rid of the white part in photo No.4 thats already phucked. (this is what they have called 'the grommet').
Pull the outer cable with some long nose pliers as you can now access it via the drivers side wheel arch.
Remove the old cable.

Cheers Matt...

I took some pics today of the drivers wheel arch and added them above (pics 8 & 9), still can't see where the access to the cable is? Also, I take it I'll need to get another grommet?

No the grommet is built into the cable outer section at the pedal end. Its black on the new one. It's sort of barbed, if that makes sense?

Yeah I see the grommet on the cable now, nice one! Just need to find access to where the cable comes out the bulkhead now, I'll try and get a look tomorrow.

Cheers

It's tucked away round the passenger side of the servo.

Basically it's a ball ache of a job, I'm just glad I did mine while the engine was out.

Personally id jack the front end up on axle stands, whip drivers side wheel and drive shaft off and the down pipe to give your self maximum access, seems excessive but there a fiddly thing to do at the best of times, mint be worth having someone inside the footwell to grab it as it comes through cus it might slip back out again.
