I guess in 1988 they didn't cater for babys seats. Is there a seat belt I could put in the 5 as I need to have my daughter safe in the back.. A strange one I know but I need to do this has anyone had the same problem and found a safe answer.. Cheers guys

You can get car seats that fit the older style belts, we had one in our old GT Turbo a few years back... We still have one in the MG actually but my smallest is 2 1/2

How old is your little one ?

She's only 11 month an I was just wondering if I could just swop the belts say from another vehicle as the mrs Defoe won't swop the chair. Thanks Paul

I assume it's the buckle part thats causing the problem by being to long & so stresses on the seat rather than sitting flat against the side ?
You may find a shorter one that just pokes out of the seat rather than like the GTT one is now.

What is the weight and age if the baby? Have u got the origional rear seat belts in the back of your gtt?

Still the old seat belts but they didn't stretch long enough to go around the carry chair. In my old Astra mk4 it wasn't a problem but in the 5 it is. I have to strap her across her lap and then over the back.. She's 11 month 16 pound

I think the minimum requirements for s forward facing seat (group 1) is 9 months old 9pound in weight and able to old up it's own head.
Might be time for the next seat in the growth range.
Sounds like the old seat (group 0+) u had in ur astra was a rear facing seat for newborn> 9 months approx.
I'd recommend calling into a halfords seeing a child seat specialist getting her weighed and sat in a few seats, then trying a few seats in the gtt to find the best compromise.

My mrs was just saying that because our little one is so petite for her age we have kept the seat. But your right it's time to get a new one I think it was just worrying that I couldn't get the belt around the way I did in the Astra. I didn't know if the law and lengths were different in the 80s. I aim to bring my babes to some shows in the 5 and her safety is first... Thanks for the info...

What make and model is your baby seat?
When I worked at Halfords s few years ago the maxi cosi priori xp was one of the best group 1seance in terms of safety and ease of fitting.
I'd always listen to the child seat fitters recommendation. :)
