View Full Version : Starter Motor Locating Dowel

i seem to have lost mine :cry:

just wondering if anyone has the part number for one or has one lying around.?


i was hoping to fire the car up today but realised i forgot to fit the starter :homer:
and when i came to fitting it the dowel was missing:sad2:

i want to get the car up and running asap:)

is this something most motor factors would stock? or are these dowels car specfic:confused:

i have a brand new one in its case from renault here m8. thing is i dont no when id be able to post it as works hectic. and youd probally be able to get it from renault quicker because of this.

part no should be 77 05 010 087

or the p/n could be 77 05 010 006 as i have two types of dowels here some1 could confirm this?

whats the difference between the 2 dowels you have mate.?


ive actually had a look if the engine block to gearbox dowels are the same but unfortunately there of longer length, so wont fit in the starter to g/box dowel hole.

the other one is for the locating of the head its a few mm shorter.

ya could pm ashy mate i bought a few a while back and im sure ashy made some up as spares....just thinking about that bloody dowel gives me nightmares:cry:

lol, why what problems have you had with the dowel.?

will pm ashy if i cant sort this out tomorrow.

ohh had big fun..when i went to start the car the starter would just spin...then sometimes it would just click etc etc etc...lucky for me ashy sorted it when he realised the dowel was missing :eek: popped one in and it was sweet...bloody nightmare that dowel:sad2:

count yourself lucky it was missing and not put in the wrong hole:sad2:
on one of my old 5s i put the locating dowel in the wrong hole and when i went to fire it up all i got was the most horrid grinding metal sound which turned out to be the teeth on the starter sheering off:eek:

yes mate, its all sorted now :) the car fired up.....and now for a new thread about a few probs im now having...:)
