Electric melt down help!!!!

Hi guys

Who can help took the car out this morning went for boost and it started juddering then cut out dead I opend the bonnet and it's fried the short main - cable to the battery!! Any clues? Bear in mind Iv had the engine out this week for a new gearbox.. Have I wired the starter up wrong? What else could it be?? Worse thing is I have my mot this morning I have put a new cable on for now to get me through it and won't be boosting on my way there... Cheers guys..

was it touching anywhere? probably wore/melted through and shorted out. it has to be scecured properely to prevent this. its pretty common.
