does anyone on here use/have any type of scanner that they would recommend??

i currently have an omitec and to be honest its pretty rubbish :crap:

so iv been looking at a snap on solus pro or a bosch kts and just wondered if anyone uses either of them or any other options?

90% of the machines life will be used for the german stuff as i have comps for the other things we do

As a snap on dealer I am going to say go with a snap on scanner, but also as an individual I would say go with the solus pro or wait two months and have a look at the solus ultra. Super easy to use machines with up, down, left or right and yes and no and have a massive amount of features, all of the data all of the time, real time graphing, alarm immoblizer re- syncronisation, certain key re coding, actuator tests etc etc etc, i have used the bosch scanner and did not think it was all what it was cracked up to be, also having to be on the lastest software all the time is a bit off putting, if you dont keep up with the software the machine will time out.

snap on dealer! is there a special rtoc discount :wasntme:

the garage nxt to mine has a solus pro and iv found it connects to alot more than the omitec and is much easier to use :agree: hence thinking of getting one of those

do you sell a complete kit or would i have to buy all the keys etc separately?
also if i were to buy an 2nd hand one would i still be able to update it?

iv never used the bosch one but heard good things about it?

Give any rtocers discount:agree: Most common is to buy a 16 pin kit which comes with all the keys and the eobd cable, then if you need other adapters pre eobd you can buy them as and when you need them. Second hand wise , they can all be updated other than the old mt2500.

we use snap on everyday its pretty good, has its limitations depends what you need it for? diagnosing faults? reading codes? resetting service schedules? i think the bosch is a much better machine but ive not used it everyday, only when i went to shells tech departments. If your only using it on the german stuff then i would seriously consider the much cheaper VAGcom with much more ability on the vag stuff.
Take a look at this guys website, http://www.ross-tech.com/ for the vag com

i did have a little look at the vagcom which would be good as we do loads of audi's but but wont do the merc's or bmw's (i dont think)so figured the solus or bosch would be better as it should do all of these makes

will be used for everything really from service lights resets to diagnostics

what makes you say the bosch is better??

What snap on scanner do you use though? We are the only people who publish a software guide so if your not sure there is always something to have a read through.

solus pro about to get the verdict thing with only the scope, have used the verus quite a bit with its scope. good pieces of kit, i cant say the bosch is better or not really as ive not used it enough, it just seemed alot better in the short time i had with it. id consider the verdict if your looking for diagnostic capability has great information for using the scope even if you;ve not used one before, tells you where lots of break out points are for easy access to the correct sensor wiring to connect it up.

i help sell diag machines at work. i actually do the hardware and software support for GSF Garage Equipment. As has already been said VAGCOM would be the best for the VAG group.
we are a bosch distributor amongst other things, i help set up the software and deal with problems. there USED to be a big problem with them timing out, but Bosch have addressed this with the KTS200 and KTS340. - you can get a OTP (one time purchase) software package, where you get the lastest software, but it doesnt time out. - 6month or 3 years (it doesnt matter) down the line you can get another OTP and catchup with the software you are missing. you could also just go onto the regular subscription if you wanted to. the other big thing with Bosch is the computer aided diagnosis - if you pull a P code out, you can see what sensors etc can cause that problem, what to check (resistances etc) and where they are in the engine bay, and the wiring diagram too. (obviously that costs abit of dough though, and ISNT included in the OTP package....
having said all that- we well more Launch X431 Masters than anything else. - Uk edition only though. if you want a general tool with decent depth that punches above its weight, thats what we usually sell)
we can send you a catalogue if you want. - we have a guy who comes out and demos the lot too. :)
