Cup car project ex Sam fish car

Hi don,t know if anyones interested but i started this weekend stripping the cup car down ready for new parts and new paint work,i bought this cup car off Sam fish about 3 months ago and have intentions of a few trackdays and then National day then looking at a form of championship in 2013/14.I have been busy buying OE parts mainly service parts and am replacing a aftermarket steering wheel and replacing a phase 2 rear bumper for a phase 1 as the car is a phase 1.I am restoring the car to a German coupe cup car spec with the decals to match which are being done for me and the paint to trims to suit after some homework and phonecalls i have some pictures and info on the cups finished look.This cup car i was informed has run in the German cup series and ended up competing in a hillclimb championship here.Iwill get some pictures up asap thanks for looking:cool:

Hey Bod, hillclimbs are a good source of 'non contact' motorsport and well suited to the GTT. Best of luck with the resto, also if you need any help with set up etc, just shout.

Thanks Matt the cup car has been stood a while Sam and Mark Fish got it started and running up to temp for me but it will need a overhaul and carb setup i know the headgasket has gone,i have a things to do list but yes that sounds good thanks for the help:)

Could always join the fun with the only two cups that actually race in the UK.....?But I'd suggest stocking up on body panels.:laugh:

:smokin: Ive got to get used to driving a left hand drive race car round the track always had RHD track cars,talking to Mark fish he said the LHD 5 cup cars are well balanced due to the wieght evenly spread handle well on track?

Plus points for a LHD car are, better balance due to driver on the 'lighter' side, and as most UK circuits are 'right handed', upon entry you get to see much more of the corner due to no A pillar in your view...

After a bit of sourcing and help from Sam and Mark fish i managed to get hold of 9 coupe cup wheels in total. I also have a spare full devil side exit just in case.

I was lucky enough to get the original Mod plastia cup car bucket seat and set of Mod plastia harnesses with the car (thanks to Sam Fish).

Heres a couple of pictures of the trim that we have rubbed down with the intentions of spraying it to an original German cup car spec with decals to match, after removing the trim we found that the car had no rust and only a few battle scars from its racing career.

cup car had Bilsteins all round but have swapped for refurbed de-carbon dampers on the rear and de -carbon shocks on the front to stiffen the car up on track :)

Road trip today went to Mark Fish motorsports this morning in Harlow and picked up some more parts and tyres and a coupe manual many thanks to Sam and Mark for the info and advice,then drove down to Mikes aka GT TURBO SPARES for a load of ordered new parts and all service parts all oe to keep the cup car standard as always very helpfull and makes a great cuppa more pictures to follow soon of painted trims and body panels.

Just a update,new slam panel painted,two new wings primed ready for paint car lifted up and front end stripped down,suspension,sump,radiator,water pump ,headgasket all ready for new parts and undersealing of car pictures will be added soon:)

weekend work on the cup car De carbon dampers fitted and De carbon shocks fitted refurbed by Mark fish motorsports Bilsteins removed for spares,new wishbones fitted and powerflex polybushes fitted,ARB polybushes fitted as well,new parts ordered today 285 cat cam,uprated valve springs,timing chain,chain tensioner,high tensile head bolts,uprated head gasket, all to be fitted at Easter i have started painting trims and panels myself in the shed and those will be fitted soon,i have taken pictures and will add soon,also am booking up a test Trackday at BLYTON at the end of May for testing of cup car hopefully Pigsnake aka Luke will coming as well.

Just an update on the cup car, the front and rear bumpers have been sprayed, now just got to do the rest of the trim and managed to get hold of a coupe badge as the original was lost at some point in its racing career.

One of those 'Mod Pliasta' seats that came with your car is also spotted in this 1986 German Super Touring car - So same period and top-end in its day I guess!

It is for sale in the same configuration as it won the French supertourism championship in 1989 :agree:

Had a good day on the cup car today mainly due to no rain,re fitted painted trims and fitted new wing euro style no indicators fitted new painted front bumper with new quick release fixings for the trailer.fitted the headlamp blanks i made the Euro cup cars ran these in germany,and now i have started putting the stickers on i am waiting for the side mirrors to dry and the tailgate then i can fit these and sticker them up.Its been a long slog around work and homelife since October but National day has been my goal so nearly there.Will put up some pictures tonight for anyone thats interested.

Considering its an original german coupe cup car and I was told by mark fish there's only around 5 of the german cup cars left I think I'd want to keep it as original as possible.

If you ask Colin my rally 5 is a genuine coupe. It took me 5 mins to persuade him it wasn't at Brands!!! It has got a coupe badge and it is raced so nearly there!

I would like to thank the following members on RTOC who without there help i wouldn,t have got it to this point Big Dan C with his help on engine work,Mike for all the new parts and to Mark aka Car crash and logg for parts and also to Sam Fish for his help with stickers,parts and info and also to Jorg for info and the coupe badge many thanks looking forward to National day now even if the cup car plays up it hasnt been driven in two years so hopefully will be okay :)
