Was driving it back from work as normal. Noticed battery light popped on them off. About 5 mins later pulled up to a junction changed down to first car cuts out. Battery and oil light come on. Does start up again luckily but keeps cutting out idle have to rev to keep on :/
Any ideas?!

Check to see if the mixture screw is still in the carb
If it is remove the idle jet and check thats clear, give it a good blow through just to be sure

is your battery touching the bonnet?

If the mixture screw is missing or the idle jet is blocked then it won't idle correctly, worth checking them first as its easiest thing to do

alternator belt still attatched?
Do you hear it backfiring more than normall when off throtlle?
Then its idle screw or you lost you're mixture screw.
Otherwise i would start checking wiring.

Hi sets ye I did get more backfire than normal I'm mechanically inept is it an easy fix?
On youre driverside of the carb you will see big a brass coloured screw. Take a large flat screwdriver and turn it out. You will hear there is something loose inside, this is normal. You can open this up on the other side then were the screwside it. This just slides out. Clean all parts and put them back in the carb. Normally all will be fine afterwards. Hopefully you understand what i mean, english is not my first language.
Yes this is easy.
This is what it looks like opened. So clean these parts and put back in. 5min job.

Well got it working Saturday. Battery went completely flat. Alternator seems to charge so will keep an eye on it. Was a varta battery. Also kink in one of small pipes off carb :/.
Running about 11psi at the moment. Gonna get it tuned on payday.
