i cant help you on connector but sounds like you have a bad earth put a piece of wire from a good clean bit of metal on car then touch it onto rear light where earth wire goes see if that cures it

Passenger side kick well, there is a bolt ,13mm, the earth tag that bolts to the chassic next to plastic loom plug connectors live there. If its loose or rusted the electrics go mental. Check that mate. There is a earth on the back lights too behind the light cluster.

I would say you actually have a short circuit, have you got a multimeter?

I can't remember where all the multiplugs are which connect all the loom up but you will need to split these in order to identify where the fault is, I would start with the section behind the dash so unplug that where it connects to the rest of the car loom. Then do a resistance test (Ohms measurement) between all the lighting supply wires, so headlamps, indicators, sidelights etc trying to identify which part of the loom has the short in

You say brake lights flash when hazards on so do your brake lights come on with indicators when you put main beams on?

brake lights flashing with indicators/hazards on, almost 100% bad earth on the rear lights.

I was going to say due to damp weather wet or rusty connections had it myself, through crimps or as said bad earth .
