Mixture setting

Well I've got my car running after restoring her over the last 12 months. The carb has been rebuilt and I just want to know how to set the mixture roughly before I get chance for someone to set it with a AFR meter)

i think you can roughly reset the mixture screw by turning it all the way in till it stops and then turning it out 3 full turns. but i may be wrong on the amount of turns. best off to get an AFR Gauge so you car really see whats goin on though

The mixture is only going to be relevant while at idle anyhow.

You can keep adjusting the mixture until you reach peak revs and it starts to drop off then you wind back half a turn or something, tbh i'd need to check the haynes manual as I can't remember the exact process (or if you making it richer till it drops or leaner).
