Ultrasonic cleaners

Thinking of getting one of these for cleaning carbs and small parts.My question is has anyone used them and do they work?

RussellT uses one, cleans carb bits with it. Works quite well apparently.

ive watched a few videos of them and they seem quite good, but obviously theres going to be varying results with different equipment, i wasnt sure what was good and what wasnt so i ended up leaving it.

I purchased a cheap one from maplins ultra 7000 or summat like that it did work quite well when I cleaned my carb also used it to clean some other bits. I got a cleaning agent with mine aswell which does help.

i looked in maplins too was that one circa £50-60?

The're are fantastic bits of kit,but you get what you pay for,look for one with more than one transducer more the better and about 6 litres to fit a full carb in,also the solution makes a massive difference to the cleaning process, a built in heater is a must too!
this is the last one i got for carbs :p

I bought a cheap one from aldi, was shocked how much ****e came out of a clean carb body after a few goes:agree:

Maplins one was 25 quid befor Xmas gone back up now I've been looking for one to clean my paint gun bits in as I can't afford a proper gun cleaner. My missis works a

Buy british mate, I did a load of looking around, if its for work and you have a good budget, there is some class industrial ones, ceramic transducers in the bottom and sides,I will pm you a few links to some companys.
Like I said before, chemicals is the key, right ones to do the job, also look into a ultrasonic rinse tank
For a cheap bench to one, I can not fault mine, I had my carb in for 5.00 mins@60© and the **** that came out of it was crazy, the water was jet black,and I all ready cleaned it with 2 tins of carb cleaner.

Also for the kind of cleaning we are going to be doing with them, lower frequency is better,35-40 hrz, there is a lot out there for the dental industry for cleaning micro fine places, not needed on a engine block or head, the lower the frequency the more aggressive cleaning in big areas

Many thanks for all the help so far.As with every thing these days budget is tight for toys i have been looking at the jpl 7000 from mplins any one used it or have any feed back.It seems o.k for £44.00:)

Do a search on you tube for them,I think there is a few of them on,good little cleaners

so have got my self a cleaner.After looking on ebay to see what sort of cleaning additives there are i found i could only be it in 1 liter bottles which would last for ever:)but before i buy has any one here any info on what additives they use and where to get it:)

i have a the cleaner mentioned above the jpl 7000 i think and it came with some cleaner stuff from maplins seasonic or summat like that tbh it made no difference what so ever lol i just went to using water and washing up liquid in the end.
