will not run with the choke off

got my 5 running tonight after 18months or so of sitting around my place, took engine out to paint engine bay and now ive got it running it will only run with the choke on. i changed the carb base as the mixture screw threads where stripped. anyone got any ideas?

also does anybody know the std mixture screw setting eg. 1.5 turns out from the bottom.

Yes - you may need to set the throttle 'closed' position by means of using a 5mm drill bit:)

This means that when your foot is off the accelarator, the choke will be 5mm open, if this has not been adjusted or is not open enough, this will cause your problems.

Try cleaning out the idle jet mate and adjusting the mixture:)

Sorted the problem I left the vaccum pipe from the servo off thanks to those who helped
