Right then, on the c1j the arrows on the pistons point towards the flywheel, and if correct this should put thenotches on the big end caps towards the manifolds ie facing the rear of the engine......... Now my question is, what would happen if just one conrod was fitted back to front with the notches towatds the front? Are the gudgon pins offset, etc.....ive got an enginein this situation that knocked like hell and i couldent find anything immediatly wrong untill now. Would what ive described give any problems? Thanks

Piston slap if offset wrong way round ,not sure just how bad this would be . Thrust side offset on the pin ?
Bearing faces on the rod and cap sides but that would just grind I suspect

The rods are symetrical, they work either way :)

Caps could have been mixed up, I did it once on my very 1st engine build, way before I knew of RTOC :D Knocked a bit @ 2k

:agree:

Likewise, I've found it makes no difference which way the piston arrows point either.

All the arrows are pointing the wrong way in my engine as the engine shop put them on wrong. I've had no problems at all although the notches are still pointing towards the rear of the engine.

Wouldn't the bearings be worn to the crank..so having it reversed it wouldn't do it any favours ?? Unless they've been replaced I guess

If they've simply been removed then out back on the wrong way without changing the bearings then that wouldn't be good no!
