I'm guessing this is going to effect our 5's from next year?

Renault issued a tech note ages ago, states what cars are affected.
I can look it up later if you like.

What's this E10 all about then? :coffee:

E10 has a higher degree of ethanol in it, this is to become the staple unleaded fuel for most fuel companies.

Will it still be available at higher octane ratings?

I think E10 will take over from normal 95 unleaded.

The list I have seen has not got anything more than about ten years old.
I thought that it was going to effect most "older" cars in that it degrades the internals and it was a problem that will only get worse when E15 is introduced?

From what I can make out, only BP are introducing E10 fuel to the UK next year, so simply fill up elsewhere *

By 2020, yes, E10 as a minimum will be the standard, but that's 8 years off, and a lot can happen between now & then; ie, how many of us will still have a road-worthy GTT by then?

* I've personally found BP unleaded/S.U fuel to be sh1te anyway (read causes a lower det' threshold), and thus hardly ever fill up at their stations.

Edit to add. This E10 shpiel is only applicable to 95ron fuel anyway. If you're that worried it's going to harm your engine/carb/fuel tank/pump/lines, start filling up with S.U

Ethanol (alcohol) absorbs water, so can affect old metal fuel tanks, some piework and internals of some fuel components.

and a gtt has plastic tank, and very simple pipes too and from tank, so if worst came to it it can be replaced...
