View Full Version : Clutch Wear

I am going to remove the gearbox from my block tonight with any luck.

I do want to replace the clutch whilst the engine is out. I still have a spare engine that I am pretty certain I put a new clutch in and never ran it.

Am I being an idiot or is there a way of looking at the old(never run) clutch to tell if its new or not? eg - signs of wear or the like?

Obviously I can remove it from the old engine to look at.

Thanks :)

you will be able to see if there is any wear on the clutch cover.

I have taken a few pics which are below.

You can quite clearly see that Valeo is still written on the clutch.

Is this and the plate salvageable?

Bin it mate are you really considering using that?? with that amount of rust and the hassle of engine out to change its not worth risking.
