Hardly any penetration into the material at all, the welds just sat on the surface !

bugger :badone: friday afternoon job perhaps?......

I have one but not done many miles with it fitted really.

I to have rolled 2000km(1200miles) with....I not to have wrapped it.

doesnt matter if its wrapped or not that weld is a serious manufacturing defect and stood no chance of lasting.
i would contact the manufacturer and ask for a replacement and some kind of compensation for having to change it

:agree: agreed that a call to the manufacturer should be the next move.

I was only asking about the wrap as I have read that it could potentially have a negative effect on the longevity of the product particularly at the welds ( and I have my manifold wrapped  )

perhaps tried to speed production up abit because of the large volume?

i was under the impression they will always crack, but the price was right and everyone would cross that bridge when they came to it..

im sure mine will, but its down the side of the sofa so its not gonna crack anytime soon..:)

that is terrible terrible welding, very worrying.

They look like straight edge cuts to me.

I'm no welder but we have to get things fabricated for the weird things we build and out of common sense we angle a V into any mating faces so the weld can penetrate into the material far better.

I Got A Ktec One And Its Broke About 7 Times Now So We Miged All The Weld And Been Fine Since

Id personally let raceland know, remind them of the size of the orders that rtoc post out and at least give them a headups that there quality of the welds is shocking.

Have us looked in the Volvo mega thread in general chat.. The guys dipped something lookin like one of these and found mild steel welds, might be raceland, raceland modded badly at a later date or might be someone else all together. Makes me wonder tho.

You can do nice welds with a tig and get sod all penetration see with a mig you can do a nice fat weld and put loads of wire in which is then adding material and its getting super hot so you getting penetration with a tig you can literally run round it and join it together with no filler rod. That has been welded just as far as having the amps up its a big fat NO

If I were you and you can't get a replacement get it mig'ed go nuts on it, build it right up. When you think about it there's a lot of weight hanging off the end of the flanges with only a few mm of weld from a tig

I would say that these manifolds have been welded by a machine welder and not by hand.. Mines Ok so far, but I don't really drive around loads.. Not only that, they are soo cheap that if it does break, I won't be loosing any sleep over it :D

I to have to modify my raceland, new tube, good welding, pass shifted tube for easier assembly:)
