After looking at different options for engine mounts ive been thinking that most modern cars have top engine mounts ,ie the clio . if you look at the engine in the 5 it does want to sort of twist at the top when under load and could benefit greatly with an engine steady of some sort in place .
ive seen a few jap cars with these being used ,heres a link with before and after videos

i just need to decide where i could mount it , was thinking of adapting the strut brace in some way and catching the 2 bolt holes on the front of the head but i have concerns with this maybe stressing the head bolts and would rather see it attached to the block some how .
Has anyone fitted an engine steady ?
that link doesnt work bud

Ive changed the link , dont no why its not working , anyway the damper kits are called Weapon-R damper kits obvoiusly im just looking for the damper as id need to make the brackets anyway.
there is some cheaper versions of the dampers on ebay mostly used on jap stuff WR Damper and the J's Racing 1 seem to be the top on the market as they are most expensive

There you go. Cadge a broken carbon fibre golf shaft of your local pro shop 2 cups either end and connect lifting eye to strut brace. Very light very strong doesnt expand with heat or transmit vibration.
Having just fitted it I tried a practice start and ..... broke a drive shaft.
This one got toasted at Mallory Park the new one is Raider Blue

surely he fitted that wrong... or does the engine really rock end to end rather than side to side?
im thinking the vag needs something like this, iv gone 2 track days and both days snapped the front mount:crap:
minty, try using a new standard front engine mount instead of the vibra technics mount that's in there now, it probably won't snap the bracket then.
I spoke to some VAG lads about that, aparantly it's quite common to break that bracket on the more powerfull cars. rubbish vw mount, it looked pretty flimsy when I fitted it.
the other option would be to get the bracket upto me and I'll either make you a stronger one or stiffen that one right up ;)
sounds like a plan :) il weld this 1 up for now and source another and we'l sort something out;) cheers scoff

would anyone be up for a group buy on these ?
ive been speaking with a company that would offer discount on a group buy Funckypower.co.uk they sell them on ebay .
only problem is you would have to make/adapt the brackets to suit how you want to fit it on the 5
on ebay they are 57.95 delivered and come in a choice of 4 colours
Red,Silver,Blue and titainium
That looks top quality Mud. A must have for your motor in that case.
