i had not long fitted a 2.5' k-tec side exit before my engine fecked itself - is extremley loud but awesome roar on boost with pops and bangs on overrun

I had a 2 1/4' bore scorpion on prior to that with a 3' tailpipe -good sound with a nice burble, seemed relativley quiet compared to the sidey tho

you will certainly get that burble from the scorpion system, id imagine mongoose will get the same burble also.

Scorpion exhausts have a nice burble, as do front exits :D

I think side exits bring out the GTT burble the most.

side exit any day of the week for me..

cheap, easy to fit sound great..!!! win win win

i cant stand the side exits the only one i heard that i thought sounded decent was andybond off here, i do however see the appeal of them, thats the beauty of modding a car you do it to how you like it :agree:

Scorpion with the 4" tailpipe is the loudest burbble i've come across. Sidey are loud but get anoying on long journey ;)

Andyturbo!
16-12-2011, 17:56
Well I want it to be loud and brash to be honest, it's a weekend toy I don't drive it everyday and wana feel like a big kid when driving her:D so I want pops and bangs on overun :) but I'm not keen on sideys tho I like to see a pipe at the back

I have had scorpions 3" & 4", K-Tec(tiger) Sideys, Side winder sidey, by far the best was the side winder sidey (fecking loud), but I prefer the 3" scorpion as the best looking and overall sound... although pretty quiet in the car.

:agree: Thats what i like to see! :D

Got to say for me if you want to be heard then a side exit is the one you want, with a rear exit you do start to lose some of the noise as its got that little further to travel plus got few more bends to go through.

Agree with Mart though old school Scorpion is the one you want, best sounding exhaust after the side exit although finding them is a nightmare they are very rare. I've only ever had 3 come my way and ones on my mates car.

has anyone ever had a piper exhaust on a 5, i can get their stuff trade and keep toying with the idea of getting one of their 3" or 3.5" stainless ones but they are still very expensive and i dont know if they are worth the money

me and scoff made a 3in pipe on the white 5 it was a little louder on tick over but quieter when running and a lot quieter than a 2.5 in ie ktec

I've never used one before but be interested to see what they sound like, didn't they do a mild steel version before or am i thinking of another make

yes they did virtualy all their exhausts in mild steel or stainless versions, with the couple of thousand dry miles i do in a year a mild steel one would probably be fine but i like the idea of stainless better as i dont want to be trying to get an exhaust for one in another 10 years when they are stupidly rare, already done that with my mk1 fiesta

My sidey was loud with a t2 on, then I fitted a huge t28 and it was amazing. Next is the group buy manifold which I hear changes it all over again.

I had the old scorpion, it was lovely, let lee the area rep have it for his leccy blue 5 which went to ewok.. Wonder where that car is now.

tubular manifold takes the burble away, i have tubular on mine with scorpion system and i preferred how it sounded on the standard manifold.

Big Steve done it on his old car, and tried a bike back box too.
Sounded pretty nuts. Came through the scuttle and out the wing.

Yeah I'm not keen on the sound with the tubular manifold to be honest, I love the sound of the 5 as it is

Ohh really? Seems i have a 'earlier' scorpion fitted on my gtt :) - 3/3.5inch exit - allways loved the sound of it since i bought it from someone having a clear out years ago.
