glenn that looks really good and if it sees some gains then its a win win, out of interest have you fount that the standard inlet has become restrictive at a certain power level or psi ?

some real neat welding there.. makes my 205 cage look a bit like dog ****.., let alone pidgeon!

10 points to anyone who spotted the the cage had to be modified once glenn realised he couldn't fit in the car anymore :laugh: Que us cutting out the middle bar and replacing it with a curved one so he could get the seat further back. It's a great shell, the straightest GT I've seen for a long time.

Had them for probably 1-2 years, not quite got round to fitting them, a member used to do them but there not original and not replicas there just a close resemblance really lol. I think your new purchase would look great with some originals but i kno there expensive now :( still looks fantastic without :D would love an original looking 5.

and a big thanks to tony hart from prima racing for moulding me the bumper and arches took a long time to fit them but worth it as i came now run 245 50 15 so i can do ten of the best this year coming made front bumper quick release and made arches fit same as standard ones car is finaly coming together just skint for spending all week on the car lol:D

nothing special just a lot of messing about with bonnet pins
Looks amazing, but why didn't you remove any of the sound deading or cut away the inside of the doors? saves quite a bit of weight.

after running the white one with perspex windows for the last for years i wanted to keep the glass and not a lot of weight to be saved as you would need to lose 50 kilos to gain 2mph trap and .2 of a second the white car wheel spin to after the 1/8 at pod thinking of adding more weight this year to aid grip for this new one and the new rules for esc the new car needs to weight 60 kilos more than white one

all you need to buy are flush fit bonnet pins i bought them of ebay 11 posted
the red bonnet and original front wheel arches are for sale if anyone is intrested mint condition
the bumper and arches i got from tony i had to twist his arm up his back to sell them to me as they are only a shell and you have to make all your own mounting and shape them to fit properly so as he has a big company to run he did me a favour so sorry to upset anyone that it may

i was so tempted to go with a big spec vw engine which i had allready built costing well over £5000...... but still going to make the first 10 sec c1j i hope lol its just a lot funnier at comps when you tell them its only a 1.4 makes me smile

i have done 20+ 11.0 sec quaters so 10 should not be long but i have been saying that for 6 months lol

I see you have done away with the fan for the heaters on the Bulkhead , what you going to do for de-misting the windows ?
ive been really considering getting rid of mine or trying to duct it in a tidy way just cant decide what to do :confused: even considering a remote fan of some kind .

never thought about that nice idea :cool:
i stripped the dash and loom out mine the day and was surprised how much weight is in that heater box :) i think id like try to keep the heater in situ maybe try rerouting the pipework somehow . bit more room in the enginebay and i dont need to worry about waterpipes running along the back of the manifold /downpipe
id love to lose the servo aswell but thats another £££ job i cant afford at the moment :crap:

manifold is made to flow better than the ktec one.. which i carnt do in equallenght to do this.. flow is more important ....... intercooler:confused:

Its individual coils tony, each is a high-output coil with inbuilt ignitor. The problem with making a lot of power from a small engine is that it's very hard to keep the spark going. With the 4x coils on glenns engine the air:fuel can be down in the 9s and it'll still pull clean as a whistle :)

Glenn's done a great job, he's made lots of little improvements over last years car. Not bad for a painter ;)
He brought it over today for wiring. Maybe we'll be in a position to start mapping next week, that would be good. We'll try and grab some video of the progress. :)

Tonight we spent 6hrs on the dyno with Glenns HI5 C1J :)
The spec has changed somewhat, we knew it would be better but we did not know exactly how much better it was going to be. The improvement is just staggering, I can barely believe the results.
The evening starts with the usual part throttle/low load mapping which wasn't a million miles away from last years tune. Initial boost was about 10psi and with a bit of fine tuning I had that up to 150hp or so. 17psi saw about 200hp if I recall. 21psi made about 240hp @ 7000rpm. What's really interesting is that at 30psi the engine was still responding well to small boost increments. Last years motor did not make much extra power after 33psi and at 36psi the power was dropping off at higher RPM because it just couldn't breath all that well.
This time at 36psi we were making comfortably over 300hp and each 1psi increase was returning a notable power gain. The final result was 341hp @ just shy of 40psi boost. 279lb/ft of torque.
Some of the more skeptical will want to question the dyno result, and that is fine, I would probably do the very same. So let me tell you this: the engine is taking 95% duty from 560cc siemens deka injectors @ 3bar fuel pressure. Thats an 044 pump and fuel pressure is holding perfectly. Last year we managed about 80% if I recall. The injector duty calcs correspond with the dyno HP give or take.
Unfortunately 2 bent pushrods put an end to play late in the evening, I would have liked to try a full 3 bar of boost since the motor was still responding to increases. No spare pushrods to hand so that was that.
Hopefully next week we can think about tests with nitrous.
Hats off to Glenn for building a bomb proof motor, etc. Lets hope it does the numbers at the track too.

It's pretty healthy at 8300rpm still, doesn't seem to choke up at all :)

Yes maybe some better rods are needed. It used to be that we considered them a 'fuse' since it would often crack retainer caps too, and they would be evident whenever a rod needed changing. It has Ti retainers now so I think he should probably go for something like that. :)

they were not really expensive tbh , i sent over a standard 1 to a V8 drag racing specialist in America not sure what they were called it was a while ago now but il try find out , At the time i couldve had 200 made but just decided to get 8 ,the head does need altered though.

Personnally id say if your bending pushrods its down to to much rev's , and i think with the power and rev's Glenns is making he will forever be bending rods, they are ti pushrods which have been through a toughening process ,i use ti retainers and ive had all the rocker arms toughend so if anything is going to bend or break it will be the rocker assembly where it is fixed to the head that is cast .
Nothing to do with rpm and I don't really want ti ones neather not to worry carry on with standard ones I think thanks anyway

Mine bends them at 5500 rpm so I would say its the 280 lbft it's a vertical climb at 40 psi of boost from a big blower. High revs and valve bounce can cause it but I don't get valve bounce on mine pal

Both on 1 cylinder at a time but that was on last engine I have only done 2 Rods this time so far we will just have to see how it gos been using it on the road for the last 2 days and been fine with big ish power comes small problems
9 times out of 10 it's high revs and valves bouncing but not this time so must be cylinder pressure ?

its probably something to do with asking too much from the pencil tin push rods..
I remember the 1st time i used the gas, i bent 1 on the first run, changed that, and bent all 8 on the next :) i just put it down to cylinder pressure, as i never used to rev mine past 7.
I did uprate them after that though and never had a problem since.
