Except your 5 isn't exactly an ordinary 1.4! Good work though!!:agree:

I what way is it not a 1.4 then
I wasn't saying it's not a 1.4, just said it's not Ordinary. Which is aimed to be a complement because there are none like it!

people used to say steel liners wore quickly, have you had any notable wear on your liners or was there a certain make of steel liners that were of poor quality? or badly built engines wrong ring gaps?
No problems with them wearing tony, but it took some experimentation to find piston rings that would last. Yes, ring gaps are pretty important, they're set to what we thought would be be "about right", no problems to date!
Michael, yes just push rods being a pain but they don't fail all that often and it's a 10 min fix when then do. It would be nice to have something better in there though.
A big thanks to Mike phase 1 16v for sending up some spare rods ready for some more testing on Friday :agree:

what rings did you go for in the end? and which ones would you avoid in the future?

:agree: very very impressive ! no dramas with the pushrods thats got to be a good sign , amazing to see the gearbox takes that amount of torq ,im guessing aslong as it gets that 1 special time down pod thats all that matters
Well done again on that awesome power figure :agree:

Only 2 pushrods I think there is some more to be had as nos bottle was low my fault thought it was full never mind
Lets hope the extra power is worth 0.2 seconds;)
Just keeps on getting better and better, all this and still more to come:smokin:

It was a great result, really happy with how well everything is working. Things don't normally go to plan as well as this (I've jinxed it now!!)
Nitrous is doing exactly what we expected it to. There still should be scope for a bit more but it would be good to run it at its current settings for an outing and then think about trying some more for the following event maybe.
Really pleased that his engine is holding together. It should be safer too this year (famous last words ;)) because the extra flow from the new manifold and turbo (I presume this is the reason) have ment that EGT is not as scary as it was last year. Really looking forward to seeing how it goes :)

Maybe a silly question but are the results being achieved on regular 99 ron pump fuel? or race fuel?
If pump fuel, could race fuel offer yet more power?
Either way a fantastic achievement as i was only just reading a thread on here from 2009, some rally team guy was saying in his opinion no 1.4 was capable of being able to achieve near to 300bhp....oh how wrong was he :agree: :agree:

42psi???????????????????? madness. Does that seem to be the flow limit? Or is it still making good gains per psi?
42psi???????????????????? madness. Does that seem to be the flow limit? Or is it still making good gains per psi?
I think if we did some work on boost control it might be happy to hold a bit more. It might pick some power up without gas but my gut says that whatever we might gain from additional boost we would loose in the nitrous. In other words, the exhaust valves, ports, headers, turbine can only flow so much, whether you get there through means of boost or nitrous oxide.
Anyway I just hope now he can get a good pass in without bending pushrods. If he can, it'll be a stormer

Injectors have run out of duty so has boost controller and map sensor lol still more I think not peaked yet but enought for me for the Moment

I didnt think the head would flow anywhere near that sort of power. Is it just a 285 cam? whats head mods are there?
