View Full Version : I recommend Graham Sykes.. £443, 24 y/o.. etc
Hey,
Just wanted to share my recent insurance buy.
Im 24 y/o, with 3 years NCB and a clean driving licence. Licence for 6 years etc
I've spent the last 3 days trying to get insurance for the R5 GTT and I couldnt get anything lower that £591 with Adrian Flux Direct, most were over £700. So I was fairly happy with that until just thought i'd get a quote from graham sykes from reading of good prices from other members on here.
£443, Full comprehensive, with Roadside Recovery and assistance and mods declared, Ronal Turbo wheel's, white leather seats etc...
Chuffed,
Definately worth a look if your insurance is about to expire.

I agree also, slightly lower quote all mods 5000miles with 6 points been with them 2years
Graham Sykes for me too.
White track Clio, fully comp, roll cage and every single mod declared came in at just under £500.
Sky wanted nearly £900, needless to say no mainstream insurance would go near it

Just renewed with Sykes, £200.02 for the year, including all mods, breakdown cover, legal cover 3000 miles per year job done! :wasntme: :agree:
Im 21 and had quote just off gocompare and cheapest on there was £2500:crap: no mods declared either, i think if i told them about my mods cage being one of them they wont wanna know.. Might try this place your on about though see what they say
Sykes for my car, £245 fully comp with 3k miles, not that it does 3k miles :crap: but still prefer it insured.

I'm in the same boat as you mate. I have had a quote of Adrian flux all mods declared at 1800. So I think a company fighting for competition would give a 1000 if you shop round well. :agree:

Thought I would chip in too...
I am 33, with a clean licence (14 years), No claims dont come into it as its a classic car policy:
Policy Number:
AKNxxxxxxxx
Vehicle Description:
GT TURBO 1397
Type of Cover:
Comprehensive
Cover Start:
24/11/2011
Cost:
£ 290.20
Policy Excess:
£ 550
Insurer:
Allianz Insurance plc.
Limited mileage to 5000 and all mods declaired.
So I only pay £290 BUT just noticed the excess  (cheers car.crash). Shout over if anybody want the number for the broker?
Graham sykes for me £1300 Full comp with roll cage, wheels, suspension, bucket seats , front mount, filter, buzzing at that really, want 3 payments with debit card though that right people? Said montly with credit card..
Thanks for this and the other thread I saw about Graham Sykes :agree: :)
Just saved about £110 :)
Very helpful and pleasant people on the phone there.
Specialise in modified cars and younger drivers (under 25 years).
Don't really do standard cars; they quoted on a standard Clio 172 but it was high and they said it would be cheaper with them if it was modified. HIC said the same as their quote for a Clio 172 was also very high.
Graham Sykes did need some paperwork that no-one before has though; I had to prove I was a member of a specific club, ie, the Fiat owners club.
Whats your excess ?
Very late reply, but my excess was £250.. :)
Also, insurance is due for renewal today with Sykes and they have quoted £399. Going to try and beat it somewhere else, I hope turning 25 will be in my favour.
So, the cheapest Sykes will do it for is about £380. (with breakdown cover)
Flux will do it for £360 or (£390 ish with breakdown.)
Going with Sykes...
Also, one thing worth mentioning is that if you guys use your 5 as a daily and have a classic car policy on it you don't build no claims on that vehicle. (Something worth mentioning I didn't know).

I've registered the RTOC with them so it should smooth the process for RTOC members in future.

That's a good price for fully comp at your age seeing as it's from a high street insurance provider. :agree:

Give them a go mate. Worth a shot.:)
Ah, I thought you'd already got the insurance.
Shop around, see if the specialists will give you a price on a classic policy or something (as long as you're not using this as your main car??).
I'm with Sky, they are usually very good.
Have you seen this thread? Good list of companies to try:

Kept on secured driveway. £650... only pay £410 for evo and £240 for polo 1.4 16v fully comp!!!! Adrian flux did it for £138+£15 for agreed valuation

we tried them a couple of years ago, we did better on confused.com tbh, i think its all down to area alot of the time
And car, or something. Don't know.
I paid £130 there for the engine, and other bits, modified Fiat Cinquecento, TPF&T, others were quoting up to £1000. HIC could get no-where near at £300.
