I stumbled across an old cd today, and found it to contain loads of photos of old rtoc meets. Here's some from a Santa Pod RWYB event in 2002 - Back when flip paints, and AJ bumpers seemed to be the rage :D. How many cars do you recognise?

Here's a good one, from 2002. This was the sort of turnout we'd get at a normal RWYB day at the 'pod. It's probably not far off the amount of cars as we get at our National Day these days :cry:

How about some pics of the Renault 5 30 year celebration race, at Thruxton, in 2004. The first time a lot of members were introduced to the Renault 5 Coupe. Now a number of these actual cars are owned by members of this club :cool:

All seems like yesterday doesn't it :cool: Love the old pictures bill. I was hoping to see some 2001/2002 pictures of my black car, which pre-dates the silver rear engine, possibly only ever pictured back then at moggys RR in wrexham or trax though, when it used to be a tidy daily :laugh:

I haven't got any pre 2002 pics :(. I remember you turning up to a Southend meet in your black one. I still remember how shocked I was when I asked everyone who was meeting up at South Mimms to pm me, and you did, saying you were coming down from way up North :laugh:
I've got some pics of your silver one from Trax, which I think was the first 'major' event that you took it to.
I can't believe how quickly the years have gone by. They were great times for sure though.
Yeah, southend :cool: I remember fitting a rear screen to marts raider by the side of the road with just a screwdriver and getting home at about 4am. Back when petrol prices didn't prohibit random trips like that :crap:

National Day 2003, at Santa Pod. I'm sure this was the year when we had the biggest convoy I've been part of. IIRC, we had just short of 50 Renault Turbos meet at South Mimms Services, and go up the M1 together :eek: :cool:

It's funny how when you always reminiss you think that it was always sunnier when you were younger.... well if you look at those pictures it backs you up?! Looked like the sun was always out at an RTOC event!!

I was there in my green 200sx at EP event in 2003. You can see it parked up in the background on the pic that Mart posted where he was pointing out that grey jumper. Lol.
No pics of me though. Probably for the best. I don't want to be reminded how much more hair I had back then.

Blimey, Seeing 'Pepe' (The Wifes 21T) parked up among all the GT's really takes me back!!
And I keep forgetting that Scoff's rear engined beast started out Silver, think that was the 1st time I met him.
I like the pic of Mr Wilday collecting his 'trophy' for the biggest BHP of the day....I seem to remember our 21T managed a staggering 273bhp on those super accurate rollers (just one week after a running 225bhp on another set of rollers) must have been the new set of plugs I fitted!! LOL!!!
Now i'm not saying they were generous but obviously Europarts main 'sponser' couldn't lose to a home brewed 21T!!!
It certainly doesn't feel like nearly 10 years ago, I moved on from the Renault scene about 3 years back and bought a bike, lovely red Ducati sat in the garage now but a small part of me still yearns for an old Renault, whether or not I manage to convince the Wife is another story!!! LOL!!
I've got some pics of my own somewhere Bill, i'll see if I can find them and upload them....bring back the old days!!!

They do bring back some memories, i went to pretty much most of those events pictured although i was never a member back in the day (didn't join till 2004). It is real shame don't have the turn out like we use to.
Nice to see a pic of my Yellow ex AJ Tuning car is in one of those pics (2003 Nat Day), i do miss that car and wish i never painted it blue and fitted those stupid Polo headlights, i think if i never did that i'd still have the car now.
Just wondering how many of the cars pictured are actually still out there, my guess 50% have gone

Yea, it's good to see the raffle car. I've found some photos of the first time I saw it, at Nat' Day 2004, when it had 30k on the clocks. I'll get them uploaded a bit later on, if I can.
It's good to see some pics of the first Nat' Day as well. It's the only one I haven't attended :(. I think it was on my Brother's 18th Birthday.

I have thousands of pictures from meets going back to mid 90's including most Nat Days from 2002 onwards.

My old 5, wish never sold that car now was one of the most solid shells i've ever owned :(
If i never converted the front end i'd still have that car in that colour with the Volvo engine in it
nearly brought tears to my eyes this thread,best one for years so many memories so many old and current friends and cars....some owners that havent got a photos of there old gt's i see some new purchases on the horizon next year...omg the power of a good thread :agree::cool:

Great pics! Brings back lots of memories for me as I went to a lot of those events back in the late 90's and early 2000's although my car didn't seem to make it onto any of these pictures, I will see if I can find some of the pictures I took and scan them in.
My 5's off the road as it failed the MOT on rust along the sills and inner arches which makes very :(, makes me more determined than ever to get her back on the road so I can get to some events next year!

i think my mate bought the car, as its sat in his garage currently. - it had a weird side exit on it.
No when i sold it it had a cup car side exit on it (no silencer), i sold it to someone in Uxbridge then it moved on to Windsor but thats last i know of it which was 2-3yrs ago.
I can pm you the reg to see if is the same car, i know its still out there as done a check. Be good to see it again, was even thinking of tracking it down to buy it back

I don't remember that meet but the silver ph1 on the right hand side with the black wheels looks very much like my old car (and I certainly owned it that year).

There's alot of cars there that I recognise from when I was heavily into the 'scene'.
Has anyone got any pictures from the euro parts rolling road day in 2001 I think it was. I turned up in the euro parts extra van and as I recall the young lad with the white 5 'H8 NOS' won it that day doing a double 200. The whole day was featured in fast car magazine but I've lost the magazine now.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into it and plan to make it up to the national day this coming year and I'm even considering buying another extra van to fit my spare engine in to save temptation of modifying my new 5

I really wish I had kept my first (white) GTT that I bought back in '95 though, as I was its 2nd owner, it was completely o.e/A1 condition, and in an even better condition than Whitey was :crap: Ho hum :(

This phase 1 turned out to be a right nail, i sold it as a project then ended up buying it back for the engine as a donor for Smudgers old tungy shell. Both cills completely fooked and the rear 1/4 full of puddin!
I had so many old pics on an old desktop years ago :(

Photos that I did bodywork/re-spraying for my mate Max who called his car Doris and regularly attended with me to r5gtts owners' club events, this car now written off and scrapped after side-on accident with woman who didn't see him turn right from main road and over taken him as he approached side street at Burnley Road, Brierfield.
(Haz bought most parts and v5 log book on G99 LBD for his re-shelled r5gtt)

My red r5gtt that I bought cheap from one of those trade-in cars for brand new models at my old job Renault Kitchens (Burnley).
The paintwork was fading but mint shell with no rot, I sprayed it bright red and several layers of clear lacquer to achieve deeper red paintwork plus adding subwoofers LOL:cool:

Past customers' cars I did on repair/re-spraying ( the last two pics of black Campus 1.2 r5gtt look-a-like was for my nephew's 18th from my sister, the story of how it happened, that night he collect the freshly painted with new r5gtt bodykits, he only drove it for an hour with his mates and he wrote it off after driving too fast on down hill and lost control, the rear wheel and beam completely rip in half at the bridge wall but he and his mates were very lucky to get out of it alive as the car was stopped at crash barrier to prevent it end up over the bridge to railway line):eek::sad2:

My green met r5gtt that I used as advertisement of my business, I had it for two years but had to scrapped the shell as one of my staff borrowed my car, went fast driving it and hit the pot hole badly, it twisted the shell bad but I still kept the parts such as bonnet, doors, tailgate and bumpers etc. at my shed for over 15 years cos it was so mint! LOL :wasntme:

Thanks mate, it was my favourite car, never let me down annnd took me everywhere to the shows and use it daily car! Max Power offered me feature of my car which would boost my business till one of my ex-staff wrecked it! :cry::sad2:
