Hey guys
I want to sell my ebs convertable but im not sure how.

Its good points are; good mechanical condition, good spec, mint leather retrim (seats), coilovers, big brakes, 4 electric windows, electric roof, skeete bodykit, respray is ok but never gunna win any awards lol...... Everything works fine.

Bad points; skeete body kit lol, leather retrim isnt finished (doors, 1/4s not done), everything works but id describe the car as tatty.

Now i would like to strip the car virtually to a shell and do a ground up rebuild.
Im very mechanical so can do 99% of the work myself, i will learn to weld but if i cant ive got a couple of mates that are bodywork guys so wont cost me much labour, another mate is a painter so again wont cost much.
The majority of the big parts are ok, engine, box, suspension... Dont need touching
I would also return the bodywork to std.
I think doing the work would give me a wider audience to sell to and would prob go quicker, but would i see my money back?
I have a garage at home to work in so can do evenins and weekends on it.
I would also enjoy doing it.

Do you think its worth doing?

And what sort of money do people think it will cost me? And what will it be worth to sell?

Think first thing to see is what they worth as yours is now and then all restored, it'll sort of give idea if its worth doing or not as there be no point doing all the work at a loss if you intend to sell it on. If you was keeping it then thats different story, i'd say go right ahead.

I dont really wanna sell it as is, id rather do the work, but i wont do it at a loss lol.
Also not an easy 1 to price as i cant just go on ebay/autotrader and check prices lol.

personally i think it would sell at the same price as a standard example as the demand out weighs supply.

it may help the sale if you can source a good condition standard body kit for cheap but i think even that would be spending money you wouldn't get back

It has to be worth more than a std one to certain people.

Theres no real way of finding out both values as theres none for sale. Ever lol.

The other option is to do whatever rust/bodywork needs doin, remove the bodykit and refit a std one and a good respray.
Then finish/tidy the other main bits that i cant let it go as they are and sell it that way.

Don't do it for the money. There are many cars out there that you can turn a profit on but not a Renault 5 EBS or GT Turbo.

As has been said, do the basics to get it back to standard (body kit and seats) or do the full restoration for you to enjoy.

You would never get the money back that you would spend on it to get back to standard restro it and keep it ,or just sell it as it is IMO :)

Only restore it if you can afford it...

If you dont sell atleast you will know its a nice car and not rusty etc...

If you do sell it you may make a small loss... or just put a price on it you want and dont budge... its a rare car... somebody with lots of money may want it... or worst case nobody wants it, the problem with a rare car like yours is you dont have a huge market out there...

I would even know where to begin on pricing a cab.... there worth what ever people are willing to pay for them... a nice clean car will attract more buyers... or sell cheaper as it is and job done...

Q1) What do you think its worth now?
Q2) How much it going to cost to get back to Oe etc?
Q3) How much do you think it will be worth then?

A: on a postcard.
