Hi all.. In need of some advice..
My car's water system keeps pressurising really bad. I'm not loosing any coolant or have no mixing or plumes of smoke. Everything is bob on apart from pressure.. I've run it with no thermostat in and I still have the same problem. If I just drive and ignore it the cars temp is perfect but as soon as I release the pressure I have to re bleed it as it just gets too warm.. I have ordered all the bits to do my hg but just wondered if anyone could shed some light?
Thanks chaps..
id comp test it matey, question if it has it why ? strange.

Would a comp test show it up though? I don't understand as when its pressurised it stays pressurised and dosent escape anywhere?
Do a comp test and a sniff test on the coolant to check for exhaust gasses, by the sounds of it the coolant is been pressurised by exhaust gasses.

Nice one for that! Much appreciated pal. Will do a comp test tommorow but I'm just gunna build up a spare head I've got and put that on I think.
My system kept pressurising once, it turned out the water core of the turbo was completly blocked with crud and wasnt allowing coolant to pass through it, therefore it kept backing up and creating pressure in the system :)

just for anyone thats intrested or maybe one day help some one else out....
looks like ive built my engine with a dodgy torque wrench.. everything was loose :crap:
so went to whip the head off today and just quickly checked with a known good wrench and i got half a turn on head bolts.. checked head with a straight edge and its warped.
put a new head on and :agree: no pressure and pulls better than ever!!
although the turbo has now blew so im still boostless :disagree:
thanks chaps.
glad you got to the bottom of it mate.

I had almost the same problem, but I didn't blame the torque wrench but the Stella I was drinking whilst putting the head on and I read ftlb instead of NM's or the other way round:wasntme:.
That was a long time ago:laugh:
Never again.

you can retorque the head so long as it is stone cold, this usually compensates for the compression of the gaskit in which case your bolts will be a tiny bit looser!
if ur using stretch bolts with torque&angle u dont need to retorque!!
