Do 172 front calipers and discs fit on a 5?

Not a straight swap, no.
Discs will go on, calipers won't unless you change hubs and struts.

Clio valver ones do go straight on tho and are slightly larger.

Clio 16v discs and pad carriers, gtt calipers for a cheap upgrade yes, but will require 14" minimum size wheels.
