Phase 1 Clio 172

X 64 CDT

Tax: 31st December 2011
MOT: December 2011
Engine mileage: 108K

This Clio has been quite literally built up from a bare shell. In the space of four months from March this year almost every part fitted to the shell has been new from Renault, new aftermarket uprated parts, or sourced 2nd hand off the internet in very good useable condition. I have invoices for every new part right down to the nuts and bolts including parts that came from the donor 172 dating back 2-3 years.

Previous to buying the white Clio shell I owned a modified Odyssey Blue Clio 172, this was to be the donor vehicle for all the mechanical parts such as the engine, gearbox, complete front brake set up with hubs, braided brake hoses, complete rear beam with discs and calipers, bucket seats. As I owned this Clio since July 2008 I had the benefit of knowing that every single mechanical part was more than ok to use on the project instead of sourcing and buying a 2nd hand engine and other parts with potentially no service history.

This Clio has wanted for nothing throughout the build, it’s been built up to the best specification my money would allow me to do and to what you see in the pics. Its road legal and pretty much track and road ready.

Asking price is £4000 OVNO and open to part ex, I believe 1 of the criteria is having to post up a price. I don’t know if this is unreasonable but seems fair considering the amount of money spent on parts and spec.

I’m based in Thundersley in Essex.

I'd snap this up if I had the money.

No offers Rich, its worth more than what you are asking for it.

Mmmnnnnnnnnn if I had that much spare would keep it for a daily blast / track days in the wet / ring car - later 2 due to the track beast not allowed at ring and cant imagine its anything other than dangerous in the wet lol (it was with 100bhp less :scared:)

Looks a nice example and knowing yourself it wil have been done right

Give it me cheap and will do a vag tfsi conversion :cooter:

Still regret selling the vag 5 in some ways

Mr G you need to be buying a Clio shell and dropping it off with me for project no.2. I want to do a 6 speed Haldex 4WD Clio turbo, it should all fit just fine, I just don't want to pay for any of it :D

Been catching up with Mr R at lunch and you have no idea HOW close you are ref that!!

I have the S3 tfsi lump in the garage - ECU work done (375bhp give or take a few) with an uprated direct fuel inj pump job done other than the bits I have to make anyway. Currently doing this conversion for a VX220 and using the 6 speed box 2WD box and should go well :agree:

I am getting lazy (and skint lol) and need to get Sarah drunk and suggest another project car in our life.....because I of course need 3 cars to myself :scared: and have loads of time free - maybe giving the car to you is a better option

Cant see the turbo conversion for the clio lump less than the vag stuff costs me though?

Tried ALL my best wide boy poor man speech to Ricardo (taught by the master of tight....Mart) but alas he will not let me have it for £2k :wasntme:

Been a tough year and not even managed to get the track beastie out but as of Feb things change and hope to be back with in my very speical warped.......well you all know me

Nah, WV engine in Renault has been done to death. If you're going to use a Clio it needs to have a Clio engine if it's going to keep some identity.

Picture this: Phase 2 172, GT3071, 400hp, super 1600 arches, S3 running gear with 02M 6 speed transmission. Get the bits ordered ;)
