Are you not able to weld yourself mate?

If that doesn't go too deep into the sill then that isn't that bad to fix, would be worth wire brushing it and see if most of it comes off

very typical areas for these thins to rot that mate.

Other possibilities..

outer sillers, alone the seam, front and rear bumper brackets etc..

You though about learning to weld, it could be a good time :cool:

If its gone you will find the lower seam will be non existant. if thats the case you will want to also get the inner sill panels.

Ashy on here got lots made quite cheap.. mike may also have some..

Its by no means an easy task but expect £450 + sills onwards for a bodyshop to carry out the work.

Certainly you first want to get handy with the weld, there will also be a certain amount of filler work required.

Its a shame as the bodyshop i used to do work for were doing these at not much £££.

check that site also for welding.

its just the time thats required really thats the issue.. in the same time it takes to fit a pair of sills, blend and paint, they could do an insurance job fitting 2 fresh doors and painting half of a car.. hence the price.

with it being thing metal id just go for 0.6 or 0.8 personally, but best bet is to watch some tutorials on then.. specifically look at anything that talks about welding THIN metal.. anything about how to get silly strong welds is pretty pointless as yoou cant put that much heat into car bodypanels as it will just blow.

Id personally find an old bonnet/wing or somthing thats the same thickness as the car, practictive cutting sections up and welding them together, using tacs, or short runs, that will give you an idea of what you can get away with..

If you do set about doing it id personally take lots of pics along the way posting them on here and that welding forum, that way you will get the best advice possible offered to you.

ok then.. well your sorted then.. however.. my advice..

when you cut that rust out from the inner sill (nice big hole), fill the sills with waxoil or dinatol.. give them a real good lashing before you weld it up.. that way the chance of the outers rusting are minimal.

Well done for getting on with this

btw.. got the package today buddy, thanks a lot! :agree::agree:

Just to let you know, as I was a bit annoyed at the comments from Raider GTT after I posted that there were some sills on ebay, I contacted the seller and bought them!

They were very helpful despite their shocking 99.7% feedback and were posted same day I paid for them (Wednesday) and arrived by the weekend.

All in, posted to the Isle of Man, I paid £97.99 which I thought was good as apparently the going rate is £199.99 plus post? This would have been £90.99 if I lived on the mainland!

Anyway if anyone needs the sills it is worth contacting them to see if they still have some, I put a best offer in on each sill of £41, which I know is not much under the £42.50 asking price, but every penny counts!

I would definately say contact them first to make sure they still have some, I found them very helpful. Also dont pay straight away as postage for 2 sills is only original postage price plus £1.

If they are all gone please contact me as I will send these back to someone for what it cost me plus post, I am not wanting to make a profit on these as I really only bought them to prove a point!!!

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for that, Very much appreciated.
We have 10 plus on either side at present, I think possibly Steve your help may already be in the swing of things,
So far in the last week, We have had yourself and also another 3x pairs ordered :)
If it would help at all, My email address - ellie@nationalspares.com
I will do my best to help on any queries, Parts required.
We are also in the process of building our own site, nationalspares.com
No items are on here at present, A working process..........
Thank you again Steve, It has been a pleasure.
Thank you,
Ellie
