3 trackdays in 3 months - This is more like the RTOC trackday visits of old ;)

I appreciate it's always a risk with the weather at that time of year, and people may have Xmas parties & the such like to attend instead, but for those that are interested/can make it, there's an open pitlane trackday at Donington (best track in the UK? Quite possibly) on Saturday 3rd December.

For those that's never been, it's a great track to drive with enough interesting corners & elevation to keep you smiling throughout the day :) The museum is also worth a visit for sure - Some great history on show in there :cool:

Shame i missed Blyton, i was competing (and breaking) my 5 so couldnt make it in the end :) Am interested in this though Mart, not done Donny, are pit garages included in price - dont fancy getting too wet!

Jesus, no worries mate. Shame you double-booked/couldn't make Spa, Blyton, and now Donington, but there's always next year :) We need the Cup guys there to start generating interest for other rtoc'ers to attend :agree:

It'll be into the new year before I know what's available trackday wise. For sure though, I'd like to think there'll be an rtoc trackday of some sort come April time...or an Easter trip to the 'Ring again, if that's the more preferred option?

Either way, 4/5 months notice should warrant a great rtoc turn-out for that first trackday/trip of 2012...maybe ;)

I plan to make the briefing in the morning as I will be leaving a bit earlier (do they still run the track when dark? - bit of 24hr styleee driving lol)

Have seen Al turn up a bit later to a few track days and had no problems - maybe you need to be in the CSL club :D

But I would certainly not loose sleep / rush if running a bit late, they will be able to sort you out.

The joys of trailering - mine seems to tow fine at 70 :cooter: km/hr of course

Shame we lost nearly 2 hours first thing cos some wazzzak decided to complete his lap after the oil cooler spat a line off! it took ages for them to clean it up... Everyone was taking to the grass, it was like an ice rink!

My 5 performed well considering it was its first big test, fuel pump paked in just before lunch but the local ECP had one in stock so I was back out later in the afternoon!

Good to catch up with the Yorkie Puddings, thanks for organising :)

an early start got to the circuit for 7:30 signed on had some breakfast,went out on sighting laps(3) track damp slippery i places.i was first out on open pit lane.. OMG first corner feels like on ice???? is something wrong with car??? accelarate arse end out everytime??? oil all over every bit of circuit:mad: apparently a lad in vr6 oil cooler pipe bust decided to go all way round circuit with oil lamp on:sad2:..anyway after a wander round the full circuit with the lads the weather came out lovely and warm track dried quickly by 11.00 and we all enjoyed some good laps,with the exception of a couple of drivers who ran out of talent and the reds had to come out,cracking circuit though will deffo do again and just uploading some go pro hd vids now.:)

First post!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves despite the bad start to the day.

I was more infuriated by the stoppages later in the day, with some pretty poor driving. Had some real quick stuff there who were doing some ,probably, fairly aggressive overtaking because some guys were not using their mirrors. One of our problems is the free additional drivers. When collared about misdemeanours on track, it was always" him driving or him, not me honest"!! It is something we will adress next year. Problem is, I am happy for more than one driver per car but one guy may be courteous, the other may not. You will always bollock the wrong one.

This was our 16th day we have run this year. We had 48 cars booked on which was not the highest number but had more stoppages than ever before. It was a real shame for the guys who were doing their first day with us. Our regulars saw it as an unusually frustrating day but was a combination of greasy and cold track, mix of abilities and some pretty inconsiderate drivers...and not all in slower cars as I was accused of victimising.

Hope to see as many of you fellas as possible next year, and hopefully the day will flow a bit better.

Great track, bloody freezing but dry :D

Mike has kind of covered the day as a whole and was very frustrating that the track was closed 1st thing but no fault of the track or Apex (silly Golf :scared:)

I certainly have never been on a track with so many red flags and certainly a fair share of cars going round (fast & slow) who's bag of talent was very very empty and not the greatest track etiquette

Of course as always this was the minority but still, could see how it would put off a lot of new drivers to track and wound up the regulars

The free additional driver thing is brilliant but there was no real checks done all day, I was never asked to show my band once all day. Do think the regular off cars, noise offenders etc should have been removed as per a normal setup - just my 2p worth

Even without ANY heat in the vx220 front tyres once in the flow still had a decent amount of corner speed and felt great (4.5miles since FULL rebuild) and never missed a beat with the 100odd miles on track. Did chuckle when one of the scobby boys (a lot quicker on the straights) followed me into the corner at the same speed and line but only one of us came out, watched him run wide...wider.....off. not sure he liked the picture taken of his car after

All in all was good to get on track and looking forward to next year - Booking Spa this week :cool:
