View Full Version : Nissan gtr's
I bet they are on most peoples love to have car list, 30-35k for imported vehicles and second hand early uk models.
My kid had one into my workplace today so i could have a good neb round, they are awesome, i know its no lambo or porka but they are still stunning car with unbelievable performance.
With the price tags of 30-35k now that's just over the price of a new evo or focus rs.
We fired it up and oh la la, they sound :smokin:
driving one at silverstone november 6th
The servicing is the expensive part of owning one though ... I looked at buying one but the price for brake pads and first service ......... £3500.00 the have to be serviced by nissan too:cry:
I was told they're nearly £1k to tax for the year too.
over £1k for a set of tyres too
are you talking about skylines?

No, gtr's! Their not called skylines anymore as nissan wanted to make the gtr a stand alone model instead of a derivative from the saloon.
I get to drive a GTR in a couple of weeks time, can't wait. Along with driving an R8 and a Murcielago
They are some pretty expensive running costs, i can remember when they 1st came out a rich guy on the mlr looked into one and compared its upkeep with a new 997 turbo and the gtr was a lot more expensive for the 1st 3 years.
Im sure i read somewhere that one was driven at very low speeds into a wall or fence and it activated the gas struts under the bonnet to raise it up for when it has a frontal impact. The struts lock out and it cost the guy 13k to have them reset. I dont think the imports have these silly impact struts though.
I guess as they come down in value they become a more affordable prospect for people, just frightening bill to :scared:
They still are a must have or drive before you croak car :)
i went in one around brunters.. the first thing ill say is teh grip is just silly, off teh line the torque felt so linear and strong, yet the things like a battle tank, its strange. We were pushing everything else aroudn the track but the strange part was that it felt so planted, To be honest it worried me how easy it was to go so fast, i can imagine once the prices come down slightly and more and more rich youngsters can afford them we will see a lot of gtr's breaking coming up on ebay!.

I just hate the fact that they're so damn big :scared:
I can appreciate them for what they are, but I don't think I could ever own one, just because of the size. It wouldn't feel right chucking something about that's almost as big as a 7.5tonne lorry!
Oh, and they're as common as muck :crap:

i saw two of these yesterday in a car park i use, both were smashed to feck as the car park is owned by arabs and the kids use these as a2b cars as there main car is a veyron, lambo or somthing!:burnrubber::jerkoff: yeah im sure there will be a few breaking:laugh:
I think they ever so slightly embarrassing.
(and from a guy that drives a silly and very ugly beetle with a gay flippy flap spoiler)

Im pretty sure if most of us guys had the money,, we'd be playing around with bigger/more expensive cars..

You hit that point now mart? sick of divys asking you how fast it is, kids with their mobiles taking pictures, then you seen the evo 5 coming flying towards you twice the speed limit with a 21 year old kid driving with a baseball cap and he waves at you like you have something in common :)
I was already at that point before I bought it :D
Mine's standard looking from the outside, so doesn't draw too much attention (it'll be even less if/when I remove the janky rear spoiler!). Evo's are starting to get a bit long in the tooth now, imho; it's still a great car/engine (well, the 4g63 anyway) for sure, but the likes of the GTR, Audi's RS models, the new M3/M5, etc have moved the game on.
Thankfully, I still like 'old hat' cars, hence if I ever won the lottery my first purchase would be an F40...and an ex-works S1 :)
Oh, and Whitey!

:agree: for a car less than 10k they are some machine, its just the immage and the following they now have that is the problem.
I would have a badboys 964 turbo and a lambo countach ;)

a friend of mine owns a GTR, they are an awesome piece of kit, and the level of engineering put it to them is second to none, for example the suspension is assembled on a jig and then put onto the car so that the geomatary is correct, also if you boot it off from the lights too many time's (3 i think) the gearbox ecu records it and voids the warrenty. they are lovely cars but im not sure id have one, for the money i think id prefer a maserati of some form.
P.S im awaiting membership renewal :)
