I bought this car in May on fleabay from JIMGTT, very original and standard just needs few bits and pieces doing to get her sorted! Progress is alittle slow as its taken a back seat to the clio cup and the raider although hoping she'll make ND2012!

Looking good fella, now wind da boost up;)

Mr Raider
25-10-2011, 18:35
Cheers fella, did think of boost increase although as its all so original might leave it all OE as not many phase 1 11 turbos around. Still got few bits to do but getting there slowly... :ashamed:

Mr Raider

Bit of an update,-have bought some tie rod ends last month for the rack so hoping they are the correct ones! Also bought a brand new windscreen last week and top mount rubber 'doughnuts' for the old girl. It has to be one of the very last screens left! needs new top mounts so hoping these rubber 'doughnuts' do the job, just need to get busy with the spanners :coffee:

Long overdue update, progress is slow due to lack of time and money as I own 2 other cars, anyways had the brand new windscreen fitted in February, when March came I had to move the 11 as was moving out of the house. I did consider selling up as space was an issue with me taking the 172 Cup and Raider, so have found a home for the old girl on my Nans drive for now.

On driving her to her new home, radiator developed a leak from where a mate of a mate made a good rad out of the original one and a phase 2 i bought second hand, needless to say it didnt last long so i managed to source a good nearly new phase 1 rad.

Mr Raider
13-08-2012, 22:47
So, new rad fitted, system flushed fresh coolant, bled up jobs a good'un! next on the list is to sort the badly worn steering rack

Mr Raider
09-09-2012, 19:58
So got another rack for the 11, however it was a phase 2 item and therefore no good, so I bought a second hand one from a guy in Scotland, fitted new gaitors, and track rod ends then fitted to the car and got the tracking set up properly

Mr Raider
09-09-2012, 20:06
Also got a full set of anti roll bar bushes to fit along with the top mount bushes to stop the 'shady' handling.

The old girl had a hole in offside jacking point, and inner wing where it had been repaired before just rather badly. Took her for bit of a drive to a chap who's very handy with a welder to do the honours,- cheers Mal! went to pick up the old 11 this afternoon :)

Mr Raider

Car seems to be coming along ok now, finding some new parts to replace the worn out is always a challenge. Exhaust centre section has a few holes so sourced a new one to go on, also took the 11 for a cheeky MOT today and at 26 years young all good to go for another 12 months! :smokin:

Yeah, got original alloys, - in the boot. Tyres about 15-20 years old and worn so put spare wheels on it for now, original rims in pretty good nick

Managed to get a bit of shelter for the 11 against the elements this year, gave the garage a quick tidy up and squeezed her in. I've ordered new standard shocks allround, just awaiting delivery so handling should be much improved next year!

Received my replacement shocks for 11 that I found on ebay, been watching the rears for a while, however from another seller found some brand new old stock front Monroes aswell! Bit of a bargain of the year, all shocks delivered £52.00!!! :D Just need to get fitting them now :coffee:

Well I fitted R19 16v springs on the front and it dropped 40mm and stiffened it up no end.

Try getting a set for 1.7L R11, should be stiffer, might need to lop a coil over to give a drop though

Mr Raider
28-12-2012, 20:09
Might see if I can source some 11 1.7 springs if ones on the car are past their best, defo keeping it original and not modding it :coffee:

Mr Raider
19-05-2013, 22:40
Bit of an update, the 11 emerged from the garage after winter so decided to get started on the front suspension taking strutts out, and front wishbones replaced as bushes and balljoints past their best

Mr Raider
19-05-2013, 22:52
With the strutts off and taken apart, I cleaned up the spring cups and bought new genuine top mounts, bearings and anti roll bar bushes from Renault as other anti roll bar bushes I bought werent right and my mate now works at Renault! lol

Also decided to buy new front coil springs and shock absorber gaitors aswell to complete the new set up :)

Alex
20-05-2013, 07:53
Good work :agree: Nice to see you can still buy OE parts from Renault

Mr Raider
20-05-2013, 12:17
Thanks mate, yeah its great still being able to get genuine parts for a 26 year old car :D

Mr Raider
27-05-2013, 17:03

Mr Raider

Have made some progress on the 11 recently, earlier this month carb was rebuilt as pretty sure it had never been done since 1986! Then got it set up and replaced a couple of hoses for piece of mind along with new dizzy cap, rotor arm, ht leads and aux belt ready for the trip to National Day at Blyton Park.

Also popped a head unit in the old girl, cheers to caymanr26 (Tim) :)

Progress has been slow after ND, I did however get given a few spares bits and pieces from a guy at renault where my mate works, he used to own an 11 turbo himself, so he kindly donated these to the spares fund of project 'Dood' Also sorted a loose trim panel in the boot by stumbling across these clips on good on ebay for pennies, have had some luck with finding parts for the old girl!

Mr Raider
10-11-2013, 22:55
Small update.... exhaust on the 11 has been blowing for a while from the centre section, so as ive had a replacement standard centre section kicking about for getting on for a year it was time to get it fitted with MOT once again looming, bit of grinder action and it was off!

Mr Raider
10-11-2013, 23:03
New centre fitted on Dood, looks pretty solid under there, MOT done so all legal for another year :smokin: Next up will be fit new rear shocks and new tyres on the original wheels, although that will have to wait until next year as time to pop in the garage for winter until spring time

Is it me, or is that fuel line rather close to the exhaust?

Not just you,-I thought exactly the same whilst in the pit under it giving the exhaust a helping hand off with the grinder!:wasntme:

Long overdue update, been busy lately, new job no time etc however got cracking on the 11 as MOT up in a few weeks and rear brakes need attention. One side the shoes have fallen to bits and the cylinders have certainly seen better days!

Mr Raider
19-10-2014, 22:27
Managed to source a new brake kit containing cylinders, shoes and mechanism aswell as fitting kit. The offside wheel cylinder didnt want to undo from the brakepipe so that was removed and a new section made up.

Gave the back plates a clean up and paint then re-fitted everything.

Also, drained all the old brake fluid out and replaced it with new genuine fluid that my mate 'found' at work lol.

So, abit of an update after busy few months and getting round to giving the 11 some overdue love. Managed to get her through the MOT at the end of October after doing the rear brakes, I then had to re-home the 11 at my mates house as its previous residence has just been sold, this has meant I havent been able to get round to it as much as I would have liked with work & the other usual commitments.

Stu told me a few weeks ago he went to start it and nothing, after a few checks it was the starter motor that had been abit noisy ever since I got the car had finally given up the ghost! £29.00 later the new starter arrived and was fitted to replace the old one and she fired into life :smokin:

So unfortunately thats the end of the road with me anyways for the phase 1 11 turbo, sold to Prab from Orpington yesterday as just wasnt getting the time/use it deserved. It was a great car and really enjoyed owning and replacing many parts to get it sorted. :(

Look after her mate :) :agree:.
