Mot , 1.0 L Clio, .. 1.4 gtt engine

Ok.. Have a situation where we have a 1.0clio with a c1j turbo engine sat in it.

The car requires mot. my understanding is all there actually bothered about is that the car passes the correct emissions as if it had the 1.0clio engine in it, which i presume is allowed a max c/o of 1.5, where as the c1j can go as high as 3.0 ? tell me if im wrong.

If so what are the chances of the c1j turbo engine passing these tighter restrictions.

I thought CO emissions after 1992 (K reg) were below 0.3 or 0.5 ???

just give your MOT station a ring, after all it's them that will pass or fail it.:)

The emissions are tested on the engine fitted, so you don't need a cat and have up to 3.5% c.o

brigsy is correct but u may need docs to prove the year of the engine....ie log book of donar car....or letter of some kind...:)

My 5 is based on the year though when it has an engine from a 1994 car but only needs to be below 3.5%

As Ray said speak to the MOT centre, my 1964 Anglia only has a visual inspection but has a 1988 Cossy lump in it.

with my clio ..i let the mot station know my engine was a pre 93 engine from a renault 5 ...so they do a test with the pre-cat tester ...ive mot'd my clio two times and aint had a problem! :)
