Morning All.

I'm fitting a Clio 172 flywheel in my GT Turbo to give me a 60-2 trigger wheel for EFI use.

Will a 172 clutch work with the GT Turbo release bearing and clutch arm?

Or would I be better off modifying the flywheel to take a Volvo 215mm clutch? (Assuming that the bolt spacing is different to the clio's)

Cheers

Jake, you do realise that the 172 flywheel has a different stud pattern to a C1J crank so it won't fit.
Better of just buying a trigger wheel kit from Scoff @ EFI-Parts

I know TNT Andy was looking into other options

Hi James

Yes I am aware, my intention was to re-machine the flywheel bolt holes to suit the C1J crank.
I haven't investigated whether that can be done without drilling out the current bolt holes over-sized and sleeving them down to the correct size and pcd yet.

The reason I was wondering about clutch fitment was just to see how much machining it would work out to be and if it's actually worth bothering.

An external trigger wheel is still a possbility but I'd rather keep it internal and it would actually work out cheaper for me to do it that may.

Hi Jake

You can re drill and tap the original flywheel for either the 215mm Volvo or 215mm 172 clutch. Either will work OK with original release bearing and arm. It's worth fitting the longer arm and cable bracket from the 172 or Volvo gearbox while you're at it. Clutch feel is much improved !

Cheers for the advice chaps.

I'll let you know if I come up with any particularly impressive solutions!
