as to my other thread i have piped the carb up how it should be piped up i think. and i cannot get the car to idle properly and it hunts on idle. so i took the lobster off to have a look what was going on and found that there is fuel like dripping from the part in the picture is this normal or is there something wrong.

Leaking seal by the accelerator pump jet. If I were you I would strip and rebuild your carb with a rebuild kit from the RTOC shop, or split it and change the rubber o seal and hope it seals up ok...

Enrichment cct diaphragm failure can cause fuel to drip from there (aux venturi).

Or maybe a too high fuel level in the float chamber.

I ordered a service kit from rtoc shop. Is it hard to do. Hopefully that should cure my problem

sorry to revive an old thread but im still having problems. i rebuilt my carb put it back on the car and its still not right. i still have fuel coming down the middle of the carb where the arrow is pointing. im rebuilding he carb again cleaning everything in an ulrasonic cleaner. whilst i have it in peices mart mentioned something about cct/enrichment is there something i can do whilst its apart to chek that this is right. and the float level as mentioned by someone else how can this be wrong with the new float valve from the kit.
any help would be much appreciated
cheers Ben

From my experiences the cause of the fuel dribbling down the aux venturi is usually down to poor sealing needle valve, cracked float (float level too high) fuel pressure too high at idle.

Also it can happen if the idle speed is too high 1k+ rpm in my experience. I also once had a knackered carb base that give me exactly the same problems so might be worth swapping a few bits round?!

ill try putting it all back together nice and tight. the float doesnt look cracked. thanks for the reply i now have a few options to try

just a quick question. when you say poor sealing needle valve do you mean where it seals with the copper washer behind it or the actual valve its self

Thats right mate, i find some old copper washers seal better then the new ones for some reason.

I also find a blocked enrichment circuit (1st stage normally) causes the fuel to dribble too

same problem here.
Idle hunts. I also had no idle at all when i press the clutch.

But mine isnt dripping fuel.
Ive tried a drilled out needle valve.
I think the stalling problem is over now but idle still hunts.

Hope u find a answer! Good luck!

I'm convinced mine is something to do with an air leak. But my garage is like the antarctic I firstly have to gather the courage to go and find it

hi...:)

This can be ...due to the "throttle plate"....is more open that it should be... then de engine vacuum sucks Gasoline from the mixture centering....

May be you have to close the "throttle plate" screw, and open the needle idle mixture....

Is the needle Idle mixture work fine?

I did sort the fuel dribbling down the aux venturi. I cleaned the carb out. I took it all to pieces cleaned everything in an ultrasonic cleaner and an airline and left it to slack for a week in a tub of paraffin. I put it back together and it now seems fine no fuel dribbling but my Afrs are still too high

To be fair it is abit of a trek. Maybe I'll see you at one of the shows or summat would be good to meet some people from the mids it seems like a pretty quiet area compared to everywhere else
