Evening all,

Just brought a cage from a fellow rtoc and had an attempt at trial fitting it tonight and welll.... have a few questions

1, Does the rear cage need to be fitted without the rear door cards fitted? or do we need to trim them

2, Is there a trick to get the front cage sections fitted to the rear cage? i can get the passenger side to fit but the drivers side is stupidly tight and won't go into place on the rear cage

3, Front door bars, can these be fitted with the front door card bins fitted or do i need to remove them?

4, Am i right in thinking the front cage sections bolt through floor through the jacking point area where its double skinned? If so is there any tricks again here

5, Will i need to swear alot and use ratchet straps to be successful

Could always pay a visit to sunny Kent?

I'm guessing you bought it second hand?
Is everything straight?
Trial run the cage outside the car and measure the free lengths from each mounting foot and diagonally on each foot, this will show up any discrepancy first.

Indeed second hand, and i'd love to get an experienced 5 cage fitter person on it to help but i was hoping to get it in and bolted this saturday which may not happen

i did fit it all together in the garden and it looks ok and fitted together alot easier than in the car, no impact damage on anything either but didnt measure anything

I'm wondering if the body isnt quite straight hence my issues

Only thing i need is the plates that go under the car but i can sort that after i've got it together and inside the car

Mine sits a little closer on the passenger side, i have no interior at all even the sound deadening was removed, track style :D, mine was a tight fit like that, so can not comment about fitting around plastics and carpets etc, i would guess its a nightmare, one lad i spoke to dented his roof getting one of the bars in

Remember you need to weld plates in where all the feet sit, drill and then mount the cage on them.

If it were me i would strip the bitch and have a slag car ;)

My old Phat 5 had the full 6 point safety devices cage with removable diagonal fitted and all that had to be done was cut a bit out of the roof consol and removing the door pockets. Obviously carpet etc needs trimming if you want to mount it properly but I doubt it would really matter if you just made holes in the carpet for the bolts.
Back seats squish around the bar and hide the mounting foot nicely.

Front bolts do go through the jacking point area and I'm sure I just drilled through the second (outer) skin with a bigger drill bit to allow the bolt to be fully tightened.

Large floor strengthening plates are a must for maximum stiffening and strength to stop cage ripping through floor in a roll.

My front bars feet had an extra plate welded to it, so it had a hole at the front of the bar and two holes at the rear, therefore mounting through jacking points was made easier.

its fitted but i'm cream crackered now took about 5-6 hours to fit + ko'ing myself on the diagnonal bar wasnt funny altho the bro did laugh

surprisingly once the carpet and door cards are off the rear cage fits better  and then the front bars fit better aswell

i can confirm the cage fits with a full interior aswell  rear seats included but they arent functional
you only have to trim the rear door cards and interior light
Also make sure the centre cage bar doesn't squeeze the plastic trim onto the seat belt otherwise the belt wont move :scared: but it can be sorted by using a ratchet strap to pull the bars in then clamp down in to hold it in place :D

And did he ever strip it out....?

Im going to look at a 6 point kit tomorrow and with me putting a new leather interior in a few weeks ago im concerned about it getting butchered.

Will or do these cages look OK with minimal trimming as explained above?
Thanks in advance.
