View Full Version : cant get nut off :( rounded!

having to take the turbo off (cos one of the bolts in the elbow broke inside the tread).... while trying to take the turbo off i see this... and cant get the round end of the spanner round it....now wat? :sad2: :( any ideas? pls help or advise.. http://rtoc.org/boards/attachment.php?attachmentid=11108&stc=1&d=1316618213

how do i get this nut off??? the round end of the spanner is slightly too thick to go over the top then onto the nut... and dont know wat to do :cry:

oh...and i know i can take the elbow off from there,, but i wanted to change my exhaust housing as this one is a bit restrictive... if someone is nearbye... come and lend a hand. Im in NW london. Pleaasseeee

Cut it with a hacksaw

Try a 1/2" spanner mate, they are slightly smaller so may grip it better. Use little lub on it too.

If that doesn't work use a hammer with a chisel and gentle try knock the nut free the use spanner to undo it the rest.

Use a good sharp cold chisel to get it moving, or cut it off

Yeah see them now mate, doesn't look good considering we got it built few hundred miles ago. We know oil pressure is good so can't see why its done that already.

As said on phone think need to give it to turbo builders and see whats exactly caused that on turbo and what caused it.

i js dont understand what else it could be.... as i have the inline filter too.. which is very clean.... this is like the 4th time is gone,, never been able to do more than a couple of hundred miles before this happens!! I could have bought a very good new turbo by now!! :sad: :mad:
