The sump gasket for the GTA turbo is cork .If you're asking about materials ???

no, you can buy a cork gasket for the n/a 5,s. The gt uses sealant.

i have used the cork gasket before, but still with sealant.

if you put the sealant on correctly, then it never leaks....:D

Sparks, so the gasket does fit? The problem is when using sealant is getting the clearance so that when offering up the sump to the block, you don't rub off all the sealant on all of the bloody obstructions!:scared:

dont be shy with the sealant mate,
and also dont go using the non setting stuff! ive heard of members using hylomar to seal sumps:sad2:.

alot say use thixo only, i use any type[usually carplan] and it does the job nicely.

tbh its not me doing it, but i do remember how ****ty of a job it was!! Does the cork gasket seal well enough to use on its own then?

I would say there is probably a reason they don't use the cork gasket on the GTT engine, possibly that you're dealing with pressurised engine i.e. "blow by" that will pressurise the sump? Also it may have something to do with high oil pressures?

I used to run a cork gasket on my old raider instead of Thixo sealing it. All good, and certainly made life less messy :) Also less chance of accidentally smearing the Thixo onto the oil pump pickup.

no mate i havent so i cant comment on them, ive got one sat in the garage but i dont think ill ever use it. the way i see it is that the gtt came with sealant so stick with it the others came with cork for a reason. but with that said i cant see the cork type being a problem.
