I'm a bit rusty on setting up the dizzy once the engine has been apart.
I got the engine at TDC, I dropped the dizzy drive gear in and got the semi circle lines looking something like the haynes manual. I put the rotar arm on, it only fits in one way as the groove for it is pointing directly away from the engine.

So Engine is TDC, dizzy gear in and rotar arm on.

So is it put the dizzy cap on and off I go or do I need more jiggery pokery i.e crank engine so rotar arm faces piston 1?

Cheers

If you have it setup correctly , its a case of wack on the cap and off you go.

The pointer end of the dizzy should be pointing to the number 1 spot where the HT lead goes to .

i class number one as 6 o'clock standing in front of car looking down at dizzy, and count from the flywheel left, so 4 is closest to water pump

Not running yet. Her indoors hasn't been well so I haven't managed to get in the garage to try it! It jsut needs water in the coolant and carb fuel pipe attaching! It needs to run well so I can bed the cam in at 2K rpm.
