View Full Version : Alternative tyres to the T1R
Im needing to get two new tyres for my renault 5 and have always looked at Toyo T1-R but since the Japan incident where the toyo factory got taken out they are hard to come by, anyone got any alternatives which is of similar cost per tyre. Camskill did recommend the Goodyear GSD3 but these are nearly £20 per tyre more expensive :crap: I have used the Falken 452 on my BMW and found them to be great but they dont do that size and the 912 are supposed to be shocking for any sort of performance car. Any help would be great. Thank you

Like you say in your post they are very cheap in the 50 profile, but would rather stick to the 45 else will have to get another 2 tyres for the back
And Chris, way out of my price for those, looking at around 100-150 for the two tyres rather than getting a complete set.

I'd have gone for the eagles myself.. Do yoko do anything in a 45 profile? Best thing is to list all the 45 on camskill/blackcircles etc working your price range and see if any of us have used them.
I have spoken to Blackcircle but would rather not use them due to past experiences but waiting to hear back if they have the T1-R in stock though.
Yoko do the AS01 SDRIVE which they say is just a normal road tyre which would be no use to what I want from it.
Any experience with the toyo proxes PX4?

I used px4 on the blue Clio, ok on the road, did a few sprints and a couple of trackdays, tore a few lumps out of them.....but still seemed to cling on.
Cheap though, Matt.

Pm me your email and I'll send you a pic of what px4 looks like after one sprint. Not at the computer today just the phone, Matt.

I got my t1r's from here

Reasonably priced too :)
Ouch after 20 laps to do that :crap: like you say cheap but that is driven hard on track which I wouldn't do that sort of thing on the road but still something to think about really.

Yeah so they are just using blackcircles for tyres, still waiting to hear back from them to see if they actually have stock rather than just say they do on their system because I hate being mucked around last time with them whilst they were happy to keep lieing to me saying they had stock of it when obviously they didn't or they wouldn't have taken 10 days to delivery when I finally cancelled the order through them.
Ahh I see, that sucks the big one!! :sad2:

No probs mush :)
Dale - I don't wear ties often enough to be paid in peanuts. I'm open to cash offers for the lot though, but bear in mind those wheels are one of the few things that I bought new, and paid full price for, so I'm rather attached to them
Has anyone tried the Federal Track tyre? I'm thinking of getting some new rubber for my Williams wheels when they're back from powder coating.
Yoko A539s are a good tyre, i thought the S drives were an ok tyre too.
I don't think you can buy 539's anymore.
