New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Removed strut brace other day and two the bolts sheerd off, gona drill and re tap them, what size,length and tensile rating will I be needing to replace them? Thanks tomtom:)

They dont have to be a particular strength really. any bolt should do, the only stress applied really is by the strut brace. A bolt approx 3 cm long should pass through and a locknut applied beneath, a little fiddly getting the nut on but a bit easier than trying to retap the topmount.

Right I see, fort they were only bolted and not nutted underneath, I'll try that way from there and see how I go, thanks for the heads up on that 1 fella :)

A few people flip the setup, have two bolts poking up and just run a nut onto it... Makes locating the struts and strut brace easy as peas.

that sounds like a much beter way of doing it to me, especialy if you need to remove the brace at some point to get at anything in the engine bay, i would be very tempted to get a couple of bolts tac welded in place in the top mount so that the bolts are held in place when the nuts are removed
