which one to go for? i know the 285 is a more common one, but its just something i remember way back in the day when i had a kent rt200 fitted. it went like stink with a t2/t25 turbo.

anyway, heres the low down.

piper are saying:

285 cam = £199+ vat free delivery
vernier pulley = £105+ vat, free delivery

Kent are saying:

rt200 cam = £260 inc vat and delivery.

kent state - "don’t offer a vernier pulley for this engine, however our cams are ground from a set-up cam, so timing shouldn’t be far out"

also, does anyone here have a kent cam fitted.?

the other option is a catcams cam, but ive no idea on what there equivalent to the 285/rt200 would be!

opinions pls

Buy a piper pulley, a kent cam....

I know kent cams gave a member on here discount if he paid cash.. about 20%... i collected them and posted them to the member...

It was a lot more than 20% sir ;) I saved an extra 20% as you very kind self looked after me. Great service all round :agree:

Cant remember exact numbers but sure it was approx 50% cheaper than rrp, you would prob get a touch cheaper direct over rrp with them anyway but worked my magic :scared: as only I could (those who know me will understand :ashamed:) And Mart has brought out the super tight in me :coffee:

You will need a vernier pulley for any cam to get it dialled in properly imo...the piper will still be the best cam for a road car, rt 200 is rough at low revs/idle like...probably make more power with the 285 aswell...

so you must know someone with an rt200 yes.? do you know of any back to back comparisons regarding the 285 and rt200.?

you say the 285 will make more power! what info do you have to support this? im not arguing, just wondering if there is proof or if its just that the 285 is a more common cam.

i think i'll be going with the piper 285, only due to the fact that kent cams seemed arsey when i asked them about any discount for club members:disagree: so for that reason i sacked kent off.

so its a 285 cam and pulley:agree:

anyone know what the catcams equivalent would be.? :D

Kent Cams.... when I spoke to them they were happy to offer 15% off, but more discount if i collected on the members behalf... I didnt want to do this every time, but Raj if it helps I am happy to collect and post out to you in Piper do a good discount if you offer to pay cash (you can bank transfer it to me)

They werent expensive to send out to Duncain either (less than £10), so be cheeky and see if a cash deal tempts them ;)

You cant compare the 2 cams back to back. It wouldn't mean anything. Different engine specs will prefer different cams.

The RT200 has the same lift @ TDC as the BP300. The BP300 is poor at idle and low RPM and the RT200 will be the same. I agree with Brigsy. I remember Mart having an RT200 in his raider once and I remember how it idled. BP285 with a Vernier is probably what you want :)
