Anyone know if you can fit the r5 box to the 172 engine while keeping the 215mm flywheel?

I have the 215mm fly b18ft mated to a 5 gearbox, There is a dowel that you must remove from the box its below the starter.

Been a while since I've played pikey, whatsthe stronger box? 5gtt or 172? Tho I've killed lots of 172 boxes so that probably answers that one
phase 1 172 box is the strongest.
What exactly goes wrong with your boxes, are you smashing the gears or popping the circlip so you pop the shaft & loose drive ?

I smashed the gears and cracked the casing on my last ph1 172 box

Not sure there is alot you can do about that really except be a little more gentle with it :crap:
I'm dreading putting 300hp through my valver box :scared: I have a GTT box as a spare, think I will either have to get one of those rings that bolt in or a bolt in diff or I can see shafts popping out all the time :crap:
Are any of the volvo boxes any good ?

JB casing is a bit beefier but the 172 box has better gears.
In other words, both as usefull as each other!:crap:
