Just spoken to James and he is a luck man, no roll cage, the car is destroyed at the front and back, rolled two or three times and he walked away from it with some bruises and hurt his finger, currently at Brighton A&E getting the once over and no doubt will be on here soon with full account of what happened.

Seen others not so lucky when they have rolled there car with no roll cage so good to hear and speak to James and find he is all in one piece no broken bones.

glad he is ok cars can be replaced, people can't!

on a lighter note he was probably getting bored of it anyway since the engine had been in for more than a couple of weeks ;-)

Ouch mate, sorry to hear that, like said aslong as your good that all that matters and we all know how much you enjoy making changes to your cars just need to start again on a new one and enjoy a drive for a few weeks then another engine changes, never dole with your life and a renault 5

Saying that is that engine cursed as the last owned who had that engine in a car also rolled it quite a few times :scared:

Just spoken to him & he is a bit battered up (adrenaline wearing off I suppose) but is otherwise ok. :agree:

Car is alot worse off, sounds like front end gave way, clipped the grass, kerb & it may have dug in on one corner & gone end over end almost as he said alot of damage to front & rear.... which is prob why he's walking around :sad2:
Lucky boy in a 5 I reckon :scared:

I'll let him fill in the blanks once he gets on.

26-08-2011, 10:48
Cheers for all the nice comments. Engine I think is salvagable and a few other bits inthe bay and in the car itself exterior wise it doesn't look like a 5. I only looked back at the car once and don't remember seeing any wheels on the car  I am hoping to get car back so I can strip bits off. I will no doubt be back with another 5 at somepoint maybe a silver or black one next time at present mrs's isn't keen on the Idea of another 5 at the mo.

I will try and get some pics from the scene as my neighbour on way to work saw me and came to see if I was ok they also took pics. I also believe the whole incident was on CCTV aswell so will try get a copy of that but the malloryincident with nick springs to mind.

Ref my injurys I crawled out from the car upside down out of the passenger door as drivers door was crushed. Lucky seat belt was tight was a pain in the arse to get undone upside down and I had to force passenger door open as was stuck and misshapen. Went to a&e only suffered with whiplash type injurys a fr finger and bruising all over feeling really achy today.

Like I said matey, if you need to store it somewhere to strip it let me know & we'll get it to the yard.
Just glad you are ok TBH :agree:

I was very very lucky and I have thought so many times about what if one of the kids was in the car and it scares me so much to think of it:scared::cry:. Roll cages are a defo in a 5 and I am so lucky no one else was involved in the incident please everyone be careful I don't want the same happening to anyone else. This is my first crash in a 5 since I got my license in 1998 and I have had a 5 since then and I am very very shaken by the incident.:cry::cry:

Well John & I picked James' car up earlier with the flatbed, mission or what to get it off :wasntme:
Tied it to my bros little mitzi pinin & drove the flatbed forward, then the flatbed was spinning, then we got my brothers sj on it with the winch as well, in the end we had to tie the 5 to the pinin with me foot on brakes, my brother winching the flat bed out at the same time to drop it off the back down the ramps

I reckon James was a lucky boy, here are some pics..
