could someone tell me what the electrical type thing is on the drivers side inner wing within the scuttle area?

im sure my car alarm has been spliced into this part!

dim-dip resistor for the headlights.

just noticed theres 2 parts. a metal bit and a plastic bit just above it. are these 2 bits part of the same dim dip thing.?
