Chaps,
I need to modify my chassis rail (gear box side) to allow fitment of my new box. My thoughts are to remove about 7-10 inches or so of 3 sides of the box section apart from the top bit. I will then weld a full length of 5mm angle iron along the top (bent to shape) and where it's face to face with the strut tower and inner wing also weld. I will the on the other side (inner arch) weld another strip of 5mm plate along the entire length, almost like a brace.
In effect thats 10mm of plate welded in to compensate for the removal of the box section, albeit very thin box section.
Has anyone done something similar?
