Stamped on the compressor housing: Garrett A/R .48 M24 L

On the turbine housing is: Garrett .64

The compressor inlet ID is 54mm

The compressor outlet ID is 40mm

The turbine fan DIA is approx 45mm.

Would this unit be a t25.? if so, is it a large or small variant?

how would this act with a std cam? spool up time etc

and also how would this act with a piper 285 cam.?

Sounds like a T28 of a 200sx S14 turbo, on a 5 gtt will be quiet laggy, .64 rear is large for a 5 even with a cam.

Get a small shot of NOS in there to make up for the lag and turbo will be fine:agree:

id second what james says there, if you find it too laggy then i could either supply you with a .49 t25 housing for you to fit or could supply and get it fitted for you

im trying to understand the sizes as it confuses the hell outa me:scratch:.....
when does a turbo become a full t25? ie what are the minimum housing sizes for it to be classed as a full t25 unit?

what size was the 220/tomcat turbo unit.?

Tomcat is. 48 comp housing and. 49 ex housing. Full t25 will obviously have the t25 size housings, core wheels etc

The 200sx turbo has a bolt on inlet and outlet. Il have a look at mine when I get in and see if its m24. Whatever it is like james said the rear housing is very big and will be laggy.

Raj thats a T25. As the guys say 0.64ar will make it very laggy, 5000+rpm so it won't be much use with a standard cam. Switch that housing for an 0.49, if you can find one and it'll be much better.

roller bearings cost big money but do reduce spool up times especially on t28 powered r5gtts

Ball bearings are about durability. They try and sell you them with the less-lag line, but really it makes sod all difference. They'll maybe respond a bit quicker after a gearchange. It won't come on any earlier than a journal. You can, if the oil is good, get away with murder if you have a ball bearing core.

:agree: I learnt my lesson on the weekend, don't fit a .64 rear housing Raj. Its far too laggy and spool is very slow.
