How lean can these be??

very light throttle, say 2k rpm in 5th gear i get afr's of 15,sometimes 16! im pretty sure it would be ok? and cause no damage as it's off boost and seems to drive lovely but just thought i'd check?

about mid 15's is what you want, much leaner and it'll be spluttering - economy mode :)

Economy mode indeed :) just for when im travelling.

It's touched the 16's but still not spluttered though?

I know it probably would splutter but say it was in the 17's would it cause damage?? or just not drive as well?

So what should it be running on idle as mine is around 10 but I'm getting black smoke coming out the exhaust with a petrol smell but off boost mine is the same around 14/16. Sorry about the hijack

No,on the drivers side of the carb you will find the mixture screw,it's in a tube like fitting (NOT the big brass screw) turn this until you get the mixture to high 13's low 14's

take the screw all the way out... bet the screw is missing the tip common issue :)

on a side note

does anyone know where to buy new jets for these carbs? looking for either a new 120 main or a 115 main rather than soldering mine up

Just had another go it's not coming out. Is there any way to get it out without taking the carb off?
