my new bushes arrived today and i was looking into how to fit them and cant seem to work it out.

do you have to modify the wish bones at all?

i have looked at pics on the powerflex website at the wishbone pics for the 5 http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products.asp?cat=0026&catalog=0126&submit1.x=29&submit1.y=13

but i still have a long cylinder tube where the old bush came out of.

Is this the old outer sleeve?

in a word, yes!

the new bush kits come with the sleeve so get a hammer and break that bitch off!

so i take it i can cut down the length of the old bush from the inside just enough to release the pressure then knock it out?

I know this is two years later but I've just replaced my bushes with polysport / polyrace / polybushes.

I used the following method:
1)get a diy blow tourch I used http://www.screwfix.com/prods/67042/Hand-Tools/Soldering-Brazing/Soldering/GoGas-DIY-Blow-Lamp
http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/i/cat/23/p4777923_l.jpg
2)put the two wishbones on there side so that the inner can fall out (would advise putting some metal underneath as it's a bit messy)
3)start burning the bushes from underneath after a while they burn themselves and you can save the gas.
4)Wait until the metal inner drops out then you should be able to poke the rest of the bush out with a screwdriver
5)Turn the wishbones over and repeat
6)When they've cooled down get a hacksaw and cut through the outer bush being careful not to cut the actual wishbone
7)At this point with a bit of WD40 you should be able to tap the outers out
8)Grease the holes and smooth off an burrs with a file and fit the new bushes in place.

I will try and get some more pictures up.

IMPORTANT

Wear googles and gloves whilst burning them as they are very hot and the rubbers can spit and melted rubber isn't very nice!

i used a vice with a large socket and pressed the old bushes out.. no messing about:agree:

i did the same when pressing the new sleeves in.

on my current wishbones im using bushes that dont use the sleeve.

Nightmare job, i tried heat, lube, a press, in the end it was pure brute force and my mate that whacked them out.
